Well it depends if your uprooting whole trees Always remember as a kid, scrumping was dangerous business near me, the farmer used to come out with his shotgun! I remember one time my bro being up a tree in a cherry orchard, I fooking told him to stay there as the farmer had spotted me, because he wouldn't get down in time. Then used myself as decoy to drag the fooking farmer away, it worked a treat thankfully.
To be fair, poor Fosse has taken the mother of all rag dollings recently, what with his “Ron Jeremy” revelations and his self confessed preference for growler bushes.
The prisons would be overflowing massively by the morning if you gave everyone a month then 12 months, they're bad enough already. Also, the recidivism rates are too high, you'd get people stuck in the cycle of prison and re-offending. I get where you're coming from but where do we draw the line? Should you get a life sentence for carrying a pocket knife without actually using it? I'd like to put a bet on the fact drink driving has effected me far more than anyone else on this site, it's destroyed certain areas of my life. But common sense tells me you can't just lock people up without good reason, and having 2 pints and driving home from a work do isn't good reason, imo.
If plod pursued and prosecuted all other crime with the same vigour they seem to reserve for the bloke who’s had half a pint too much, I think some people might view things differently - but they don’t. My £800 lawnmower got nicked, they couldn’t give a toss. Told me it would probably end up in a boot sale. Yet there they are, hanging around near the pubs - often in unmarked cars, looking for an easy nick.
Sorry but I have no sympathy for drink drivers, as they get into a lethal weapon when they're pissed. They are one of the worst offenders in my book.
I don't think the cops do that so much these days, or not that i've noticed, but yeah they used to be a pain for it.
