    Match Preview;
    This being a cup game, I reckon all form is irrelevant, but Portsmouth sit in 16th in League 1, with one win in their first four. They'll have been particularly disappointed with Saturday, when they let a 3-1 lead slip away against 9 man Coventry. I'm sure there will be a few changes to our side, but it'd be nice if there weren't mass changes imo. Good for consistency and a cup run would be great.

    From the official;

    QPR’S attention switches to the Carabao Cup with the visit of Portsmouth.

    The R’s head into the second-round tie in a positive mood, following Saturday’s 3-1 win over Wigan Athletic, Rangers’ spirits will also be raised by the dramatic penalty shootout win over Championship rivals Bristol City in the previous round.

    In contrast Portsmouth head into this cup tie, following a week’s break allowing them to prepare for the fixture. This was due to the Victorious festival being hosted in the city. Pompey reached the second round following their convincing 3-0 victory over Birmingham City.

    Team News:
    Portsmouth: Lee Brown (Achilles), Bryan Morris (Stomach), Ryan Williams (Out), Oli Hawkins (Out)

    QPR: Olamide Shodipo (Knee), Luke Amos (Hamstring), Geoff Cameron (Doubt), Lee Wallace (Doubt)

    Pre-Match Words:
    QPR manager Mark Warburton:

    Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett: “It’s a big week for us, with QPR and Blackpool coming up- which are going to provide different types of tests, we have to give people opportunities and also ensure we’re ready for both games this week, it’s about balancing the two.”

    Enjoy those who can go, and be sure to give Kenny Jackett (their boss) a warm welcome back.

    COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!

    Sam Magri (???) Clearly an unappreciated legend (well done on finding that one Dave).

    Niko Kranjcar and Paul Walsh also played for both.
    And both had dodgy knees as manager :-(

    Thanks for the write up

    Good knowledge on Walsh and I'm disappointed I forgot about Kranjcar.

    Edited.

    After the six changes to the first team on Saturday and then the successful formation and fine- tuning changes after the break, I admit I do not know what Mark Warburton will do for this match.

    I would "guess" that he will start with a 4-2-3-1 formation and then add "the intensity" as needed. Other than the now obligatory goalie change, I expect there to be a bit of a rotation to both rest and use the squad. Perhaps Jan Mlakar may get a start from the beginning or from the bench?

    Last week I predicted at 1-1 draw for this match, but after Saturday's second half performance, I admit that I will be dissapointed sholud we not win the match.

    Thanks Dave. I'm really impressed by this Billy Spencer you mention who played for us for 67 years. He must have been a tough old git by the end of his career, and probably into his eighties. I couldn't find any stats for him either, other than one with the same name who played for Crewe and Stoke.

    Got me all suspicious as I have a distant family member called Billy Spencer, but he's alive so not him. Couldn't find any playing stats for him.
