Not having a dig at you SF4L, by the way. The modern game does have a worse atmosphere than in the past, no one will deny that, and that's a sad thing. I know that is your point and I agree with you. But it's the blaming of a couple of Asian people as being the cause of this that cracks me up. It's not enough that the Polish stole our jobs, and the Muslims rape and blow things up, but now the Chinese (Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese...) want to attend our football games!! How dare they?!! The irony of course is that the camera our hero is taking the photo with, is probably a Huawei, Samsung, LG... If you go far enough down the comments, you see words like 'disgusting' A bit of an overreaction. And then some twat refers to them as 'kitchen sinks'. Un-f*cking-real. Release Tommy!! We want our football back!
I taught in universities in both Korea and China for five years, and I'll never forget this one Korean lad I had. He was f*cking obsessed with football, to an unhealthy degree. Lived it, breathed it, knew everything about it. Was a decent player too, and he was even coaching and inspiring a couple of kids' teams in our town. All voluntary whilst he was studying. He managed to borrow enough money from his parents to make a trip to England. His sole reason for doing so was to attend a Premier League game. He managed to get tickets for Chelsea vs Norwich (Chelsea won 4-2 I think), and he just f*cking loved the whole thing; the stadium, atmosphere, etc. I know he probably took about two hundred photos, and I wish he'd taken four hundred. He never stopped talking about it when I saw him the next semester. He was absolutely ripped off over the ticket price. Paid probably three or four times what we would pay. But he didn't care. That game to him was like scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef or climbing Everest. To think that there were probably a couple of EDL pricks sat a few rows back taking the piss out of him just riles me to be honest. The 'kitchen sinks' we see at games are human too for f*ck's sake. That's the only point I'm really making.
People forget that it's not unknown for British fans to visit foreign stadia and they go for the spectacle....not because they are die hard fans of Barcelona/Inter Milan etc. As a related but separate issue, I don't get why British fans video or photograph things like penalties...they are missing the excitement of the moment in order to get a poor record of an event...when better images will be available post-match. They miss out just to earn kudos points from others.
Are we all behind a Spurs victory today, not because we all love Spurs, (I do) but a win for them keeps Newcastle rooted in the relegation zone?
Spurs don´t usually adminster thrashings. Bruce will set up Newcastle making them very hard to break down The thrashing this weekend will come at the Vitality Stadium.
