Gary Brown@gazabrown 1d1 day ago More after we leave the EU food will apparently be held up at Calais but migrants will still filter through without being hindered human trafficking is obviously easier than the supply of broccoli
The difference is Kiwi the traffic of people into the UK won’t stop it never will plus the EU will make it a lot easier. After all they were the only control anyway the UK customs department is and always has been a joke . Broccoli will come also as we can’t grow enough ourselves as we have got the farmers or the labour Broccoli may become more expensive than people trafficking Absolutely clueless this latest wave of nationalism See Brown has claimed that the UK is sleepwalking into oblivion... it won’t be far off imo You only have to watch Sky news for three minutes to see what a complete sham the UK has become. We will have no choice but to open up all our borders just to cope with the demand of food and of course workers . With modern organic farming plus the death and non support of British farming I doubt if we can maintain the 41.5% true figure we produce now and of course our products are generally way behind in terms of quality... there was a time of course but those days are gone We cannot compete on price or quality plus we no longer have enough workforce . It will take a full generation to recover if anyone thinks the UK has the patience then dream on Big shock coming
U.S. overtakes Germany as UK's biggest source of imports: UK trade department 2 Min Read please log in to view this image please log in to view this image FILE PHOTO: Britain's Chief Secretary to the Treasury Liz Truss arrives in Downing Street in London, Britain June 18, 2019. REUTERS/Peter Nicholls LONDON (Reuters) - The United States overtook Germany as the biggest supplier of imports into Britain for the first time since the early 2000s in the last financial year, the UK government said on Friday. British trade minister Liz Truss has said the United States tops her priority list for post-Brexit trade deals and has been in Washington this week, along with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, to promote UK-US ties. Imports from the United States increased by 14% to 78.27 billion pounds ($94.43 billion) in the year to April, the Department for Trade said, while imports from Germany fell by 0.1% to 78.26 billion pounds. While Germany has long been Britain’s biggest source of imports, the United States was already Britain’s largest export market, with exports reaching a record high of 121.6 billion pounds in the last financial year. “Now that the U.S. is our largest market for both exports and imports, there has never been a better time for us to make the most of this golden opportunity and deliver a free trade agreement with the US,” Truss said in a statement. The trade department said financial services imports from the United States had grown by 15% since 2018, with transatlantic trade in services worth more than 55 billion pounds annually to both countries. Advertisement During her four-day visit to Washington and New York, Truss met U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, as well as senior officials and figures from Congress and businesses. The trade department also said Britain’s Royal Air Force Red Arrows aerobatic team, famed for their aerial displays at military and royal occasions, had this week begun a three-month tour of North America to promote British trade and defense in more than 25 cities across the US and Canada.
I've become more and more depressed recently about the recent trend towards right-wing nationalism in western politics, but this cheered me up a little today... https://www.theguardian.com/comment...2yV7YIYHS_3potwfi3DLlisF5jOIMcL0XqkO5rZO43tVs I hope to **** he's right.
Well that's not good Kiwi! Does this mean that we will start seeing boatloads of so called illegal broccoli migration being washed up on UK coastlines? Our border forces have enough on their plate with people let alone broccoli
What amuses me about the feminists is that they rejoice when a woman is appointed to a senior or influential position, then do nothing but bitch about her once she starts work. Probably best that Caroline Lucas sticks to making the sandwiches for the meetings.
OMG!!! "Among the women she has invited to join her are Labour's shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry, Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson, Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Conservative MP Justine Greening. The others are: Heidi Allen, Kirsty Blackman, Yvette Cooper, Sylvia Hermon, Liz Saville Roberts and Anna Soubry." Just missing Diane Abbot to complete the set
Quite a few of those who were elected on the promise to deliver Brexit and had no intention, they're seriously up themselves. We've gone from the sublime, Corbyn in a cab, to the bloody ridiculous, the kitchen cabinet. Too many cooks for this broth...
