So CBs all at fault again? I guess football will eventually catch up with me and realise that tall lumping CBs are not the answer and smaller skillful players are.

CBs aren't goo enough. JWP can't play as part of a central two. I still have my doubts over Ings.

But like I say, I just don't see this being our regular starting XI. And I had no expectations of a top half finish any way. So 11th or 14th hardly matters.

We where far the better team in the 1st half. Just lacking the end product. Burnleys hoof and run, has turned the game. Same old defensive liabilities unfortunately though!
First half we had that enormous wind behind us and didn't use it. I had a bad feeling about how it would suit Burnley.

What I didn't realise is we would also be ****.

JWP and Romeu are not good enough. Nowhere near good enough. Add to that we cannot give them any help in midfield because we have to play 3 centre backs because any 2 of them cannot cope.

That's quite a big "just" though. Kind of fundamental to winning.

It is shocking to think that Stephens was in the starting line up. Although Vesterggard had improved towards the end of the season, I think that these are two players I hadn't expected to be in the squad in August. I welcome the arrival of Danso but I would have to say I had hoped there would have been 2 central defenders added to the squad and not just the one. At least it looks like Hoedt's days are out-numbered.

To be honest, I did not expect Saints to start picking up points until the Bournemouth game. Anything up to that point will be a bonus. I feel that we will start getting things right by the autumn but was resigned to a difficult start. The opening matches of the season are usually a poor indication of what happens through a season. It will take some time to get things right although not addressing the defence sooner will be our undoing.

The one thing I would say is that I am not convinced that Ings is a great solution.

Still played international games which is my point.

Hoedt has played six international matches too.

(I'm in no way having a go at Danso here. And nor am I having a dig at Hoedt!)
