Somewhat underwhelming performance from England today.

Moeen has been decidedly ordinary both innings and got a traffic cone duck when he batted. I imagine he will get the nod again next match but surely unless he contributes he is going to get dropped. Denly looked way more dangerous.

Barstow has not had a good day behind the stumps and failed in the first innings. Buttler too needs some runs to keep his place.

Interesting that only Root has an average over 40 f all England's vaunted attaching batters. Hardly a shock we seldom make 350+.

I'd bring in Archer and Curran for Moeen and Anderson. Denly and Root to offer spin options.

A bit harsh to declare when your number 8 is on 47 not out and scoring 6s for fun.

I bet he would have loved a 50 <doh>
Amazed they didn't at least give him another couple of deliveries! Only thought is whether it was as late as they could leave it whilst making sure England had to bat tonight.

Difficult today.
Need to bat all day,no chance of winning.
Need a few "Boycott" innings.
Can we do it?I have my doubts

If the pitch is as lifeless as yesterday....ah who am I kidding we'll be 8 down by lunch.

All out,lose by 251 runs.
Smith hit 286 runs for Aussie.
Need a hit man to take him out before Lords.
Mo has to go,along with Anderson,Roy,Denly and Buttler or Bairstow.
Off to have a beer

On the batting front who comes in. Foakes could replace either keeper but short of begging Cook out of retirement there aren't any obvious new openers ripping up the championship waiting for a call.

I am fed up with repeated batting failures caused by poor decision making. I thought Roy's dismissal in the first innings was a very poor shot but he certainly took Moeens "cock of the day" award for his dismissal in the second.

I'd bin Moeen on the principle that his bowling is currently pretty much as bad as his batting. I'd bring Curran in for variety in the attack and he is a decent bat and good in the field. Archer in for Anderson is pretty much a given but I don't see Roy or Denly going this early in a series.

Playing with 10 men finally caught up with us, maybe Smith should bat for both sides to even it up.

Surly there is another spinner out there other than Ali?
