I wonder which genius poster put @Slurpcock 's new avatar up on the spurs board. Must be a genius poster to find that fantastic image in my humble opinion
Dybala’s agent will have known about our wage structure before talking to us. I think it could come down to bonuses. If Dybala prefers us to United, then he was always going to turn United down. The wages wouldn’t have entered into it.
I just don’t think there’s enough time to get Dybala over the line. Apart from his reported wage demands, there’s all this third party image rights bollocks to contend with. File it under ‘we tried’
Maybe he'll take less wages to live in London. I think we've missed out on players in the past who don't really know where Manchester is so don't want to live there and have also paid well over the odds on wages to convince players to live in Manchester (Di Maria). For some players London is the only city in England.
If we lose out on all our targets cos of not paying out £5m extra on the transfer but spend £25m on a year long loan for Coutinho I will be like til the next soul crushing transfer window True...but even so...he seems to want ****ing stupid money...was impressed United said **** off tbh
There comes a time to go big and get your man though, if you add Coutinho and Dybala you would be dangerous. I hope you continue to shy away from such transfers.
It also depends what Dybala you get, whoever buys him. Quite clearly he’s had a big knock to his confidence with Juve disowning him, perhaps somebody like Pochettino is exactly what the lad needs to get back to his best. As for Eriksen, I think he’s waiting for a move that will never happen. If Real Madrid want him then you’d think it would rely on selling (and getting a big fee for) Bale.
There is that but as you’ve seen at United, bring a player in on huge wages and the rest start to down tools.
Yeah if you do that often and the player doesn't perform it can cause a problem, I think Spurs are at the point of **** or get off the pot though. Do they want to win things or just be the new Arsenal?
That’s what I’m hoping for...the Argentine connection to land us this coup...but more realistically I see my Avatar coming to life tomorrow.
Tbh I am extremely cautious with this. I remember 1991 and how only selling Gazza and winning the FA Cup saved us from going into receivership. That memory has made me prefer us not to take risks but I ain't pretending that I am right. I do see how we can afford a bit more but my honest view is that football is eating itself and sooner or later a big club is gonna **** up. Genuinely hope I am wrong but deals being done in Euros over several years could well put unexpected financial costs on clubs just as sponsorship and tv deals put less money in. Football is not immune to a financial meltdown. But like I said I am overly cautious in that respect.
Im quite calm about it all tbh mate, I don't expect us to win the title over city they are just to strong imho, and just added another 70m player. I hope Klopp is right about the youth stepping up. He's done it at his other teams with success. No reason he can't do it here we have some very talented lads tbh. If we sign someone great if not then I guess the CL will have to do again this season.
I am in s minority of spurs fans but I love Real Madrid and Bale ****ing eachother over...pair of footballing ****s in my opinion...long may it continue
I think Dybala asked for big money at Utd because it’s Man Utd. Biggest/ second biggest club in the world where their footballing image will be huge if they joined them, it’s natural for a player to see the £ signs there. Perhaps the fact that they’re not a CL side at present also made Dybala want more, as players like that generally wanna be playing in the top European competition. We know we can’t match anything Utd could offer from a financial perspective but maybe the prospect of London/ new stadium/ CL football/ Argy manager and teammates/ being able to still pay a good wage (probably circa £200k-£250k plus bonuses, similar to Kane’s deal and that would still represent a near £100k rise on Dybala’s current deal I believe) might be enough.
