Partly yes, but partly down to Grosicki not helping him out enough nor effectively.
Their wide man (Dyer) had acres of space time & again. But it wasn't just the space, it was like we seemed asleep numerous times on left side of our defence.
Unless Grosicki changes his game, left side of defence is likely to be a big ongoing problem given GMcC's formation and style of play. 4-3-3 has to turn into 4-5-1 when we don't have the ball. I like Grosicki, but I don't think he can fit into that system.

To be fair defenders should also have the nous to handle 1 on 1 situations. Dyer seemed to beat him every single time. I do think the left back position is a concern, as whilst Dyer is effective there are some handy right sided wingers in this division that will exploit Kingsley.

He’ll expect all players to work hard out of possession, but he expects transitions from defence to attack to happen very quickly, which I think is 4-3-3 when in or out of possession. He wants the players in attacking positions when we recover the ball we can capitalise with one or two passes.

maybe it was a glass half full day for me but I've certainly seen us play much worse - Swansea weren't that good to be fair and they do like ****ing about at the back which allowed us to press their full backs - we struggled a bit in centre midfield at times - Batty, Stewart and Irvine all gave the ball away too easily at times although they all played ok at times too - Dicko is a waste of time, doesn't seem interested in chasing the ball, hopefully Eaves comes good - tried a bit too hard at times today - Grosicki hasn't a clue how to deliver a free kick - hopefully we're playing a **** Reading at the right time next Saturday

There were lots of posts on here last season (some from myself too) raising concern about Kingsley.

If we haven’t got another left back. He’ll still get picked unless injured or suspended. We desperately need a competent left back.

I see Conor Townsend was a sub today for WBA. Shame we couldn’t tempt him back to City.

So Kingsley is the new witch to burn, yes?

As Gone Fishing said, the problem was Grosicki. Dyer was playing winger but their right back also pushed right up leaving Kingsley constantly having to deal with a 2 on 1 while Grosicki faffed about. When Bowler came on it changed instantly, a lad with energy to defend and some basic nous shut down Dyer and he was quickly hooked.

No, the problem is we have no other left back. Not his fault, but it’s simply a continuation from last season where for large chunks of the season Kingsley was simply not good enough. We need another left back in to provide competition for that position. Kingsley either improves his performances or gets dropped. Simple.

No question Kingsley was given the run around by Dyer but why didnt McCann switch Lichaj to that side since he played there frequently last season and bring Tafazolli in to let Burke move out wide on the right. Early on we were much the better side but after 20 minutes they concentrated on attacking our left side and possession went almost 70/30 in their favour till Bowler and Eaves were brought on. Three points thrown away.

This has always been a problem with Turbo, but last season Lichaj played at left-back for part of the time and wasn't as exposed as much as Kingsley seems to be. This I believe is partly Turbo not tracking back, but the left-back has to move up closer to the winger to reduce the space between them. If there is too much space between the winger and the full-back then this is when their wide player can exploit the space.

I suspect if Turbo shows a similar reluctance to help his left back as he has done in previous seasons, Grant McCann will not be very forgiving, especially if he has Bowler as an alternative. But it's a tricky one as clearly Turbo brings us a lot going forward. Still possible of course that he will move on to a European club before end of August.

I know Growshitski won't track back every one knows he won't. He's terrible even the odd time he does.
You put up with it for what he givesgoing forward.
It's up to Terry to provide the solution.
