Went up North yesterday full of hope until I saw the team sheet. Can’t understand how Madine was picked, he is definitely one of the worst centre forwards I’ve seen in the Blue shirt. (Orange this time)! When Bogle came on he made a big difference and took his goal well. We seemed to be outnumbered in midfield most of the game so I hope NW will rectify that with a new signing this week. Flint had an excellent first half but he and Morrison were both caught out by pace quite often in the second half. Shame about Etheridge’s injury and I hope Joe Day’s shaky start will be forgotten against Luton. I think we’ll see a few changes to the team next Saturday.
All in all a disappointing performance and result, but we had a great day out and the atmosphere was brilliant. 3,000 fans oop north just shows how great our support is.
Roll on Saturday.

Had time to look at the vids now Scull.

Wigan's winning goal was a stunner. If Hoilett had done that like he did a couple of times last season, we'd be congratulating ourselves.

As it was, their ping pong first could have gone anywhere instead of in the goal, but you have to admit they were quick onto it. Their second across the face of Day's goal was a result of poor, slow defensive recovery by Morrison - it looked like he was running through treacle.

On reflection, the two best goals of the game were scored by City. Ralls took his time, got it on target and crashed it through a sea of players. The second was a great break and low cross from Bobby Reid out wide and Bogle took it really well.

Overall in the game though, what do we know (if we didn't know it before)?

We don't possess a natural scorer though Bogle looked a far better proposition than Madine as back up for Glatzel.

Lacking in pace on the transition. Getting the ball through a defensive minded midfield is painfully slow.

Desperately need someone to influence the game - the old term "midfield general" still holds true.
