There used to be, (and I hope still is) a café along the water side that sold the best scotch pies I've ever tasted. When we used to go to Drumnadrochit every year the visit to Fort Augustus and the café was one of the highlights. And if anyone knows where to get scotch pies in Sunderland, do tell.
Do Morrisons not sell them? You can get them in the Morrisons down here. Not particular good ones mind.
Get our scotch pies at Farm to Freeze at Wooler. Always understood proper scotch pies to be made with mutton. On a recent trip to Dundee they were all made with beef which is what Morrisons ones are made with. The Wooler ones are made with lamb so not quite traditional but close and taste good.
Sainsbury's used to sell them but stopped doing so about three years ago. Lack of demand no doubt, brought on by their not being very good no doubt. Even so, I miss them.
the southwick conservative club, and the pub where Englebert humperdink started his career, redhouse workmans have gone, and Downhill club. You will see the monster if you get the special brew down yer !
Just arrived at Pooley Bridge on Ullswater but too late to explore the pubs .... ... any recommendations?
The sun inn best in the village yanwath gate inn canny for food just along the road to Penrith but we usually go to the Troutbeck hotel up on the A66 also a nice walk over the top to howtown and the old pub hasn’t changed in the 50 years we’ve been going and get the ferry back from the front door
Not Sunderland but there’s a butchers in Pelaw used to do proper scotch pies. Sold out by about 11am every day like. Scotch pies are a dream.
Grew up in Chester and one my dad's mates was a butcher who made his own scotch pies. Dad used to buy the pies (delicious) and tripe (vomit-inducing) off him, along with his venison sausages (also delish).
Ship isis next !, me and me da had a good drink in there on a hot summer's day. The steak pies in Sainsbury's (green packet) are wonderfull ! i can make my own though, using the flat rolled puff pastry, pre cooked steak, onions, baby carrots mmmmmmmmmmm lovely
but, but, but, for years you banged on about wanting a football forum and no off topic ****....yet here you are. anyways, it's yours now, enjoy your football talk
Dear me, how embarrassing ... ... early hours of the morning, sitting alone crying on the internet. If people want to talk to you they know where you post, does it ever happen?
Cheers Rooch always nice to see you too mate. @Smug in Boots needs to come and spoil Comm’s fun on the PL board, he’s normally showing everybody whatever he’s pulled out of his deep fryer that day on the grub thread.
