Well, the fightback begins, currently have the Irish sat at 149-7 so still game on, but you feel the chance of a huge upset win has gone now as the visitors needed to post a 280+ total to really put the ole foe under it...!!!

450 in the second innings red, then scuttle them out again for 150. No problem ;)

With Jack Leach fast approaching a maiden Test 50 it dos seem a great decision to put him in as a nights watchman...!!

Apparently the first player to score a half-century for England while wearing glasses since Paul Allott made 51 not out against Australia at Old Trafford in 1981 (stat from the BBC)

That reminds me of a bloke I saw many moons ago who wore glasses during a game of football for the Dinmore Bushrats. (soccer) An opposition player smashed one from about 10m away. It hit the poor sod flush in the face. It was ugly.

Leach and Roy gone in quick succession, cue England collapse <laugh>

If I were holding a ticket for Saturday I wouldn't hold out much hope of seeing any action ..................

This morning I thought if we get up to a lead of 200, have about 3 or 4 down by 2 o'clock when im leaving work, get to the pub to watch the last rights of either team, I'd be happy...

Gonna be over in an over the way it's going...!! <yikes> <laugh>

All over red - bowled out for 38. You've still got racing and Tour de France to watch though <ok>

Scratch the Tour de France from the list - stage abandoned after a huge hailstorm covered the street in a thick sheet of ice and a mudslide has blocked another section of the route. The riders currently huddling down in a tunnel waiting to be picked up by team cars.

Sport eh Oddy… Tour stopped for rain and mudslides, horse racing stopped because of the summer temps, England bowling out the Irish for next to nowt... I suppose that's why we watch it...

Gareth Bale on the brink of signing for a Chinese outfit for £52 million a year. Nice work if you can get it. Though he apparently has a personal fortune of £100 mill already so hardly needs the dosh. If he reigned in his wage demands a little bit he could have gone to a decent PL outfit and played some competitive football to finish his career. After 5 years in Spain he hardly speaks a word of Spanish so mandarin is probably beyond him. Just shows the lure of the ££££.

And what a strange game of cricket at HQ these last few days. I’m away in Wales with no TV and a tiny bit of 4G so have had no chance to see any of the action which appears to mostly involve batsmen walking to the crease and walking back to the pavilion shortly afterwards. The extreme optimist may purchase day 4 ashes tickets but day 5 ticket holders are clearly deranged.
