Yeah, fake news. Thank goodness for Corbyn and his non-racist followers (currently being investigated by the EHRC)
I’d be delighted for him to do that, but I’m pretty confident he won’t. I think he’s a **** human being, for balance other **** human beings include Blair, Clinton B, both of whom I agreed with (at the time, I wouldn’t now) on certain things. I’m enjoying the spectacle of the epitome of the elite being embraced by the plebs. Priti Patel Home Secretary. I think she’s a big death penalty supporter, but I might be wrong on that. Sajid Javid, the ex banker, to be Chancellor, rewarded for his stellar performance as Home Secretary.
Who said Raab was a racist? After Oxford he was a trainee solicitor at one of the ‘magic circle’ of top (or top billing) law firms, before becoming a foreign office solicitor. Nothing elite about him at all. Deserved reward for his 15 minutes as Brexit Secretary, where he did a great job. Boris’ dad, who drove his mum mad (literally), bigging his kid up on the One Show at the moment. Brilliantly following the optimism/can do line. ****ing BBC anti Tory bias.
Just bored with all the negativity mate. At least Boris is being positive, which makes such a pleasant change after May and Hammond repeatedly telling us what they couldn't do. You saw the one show. A lot of people identifying with the positivity.
Raab was a clever Grammar school boy whose Jewish father escaped the Nazi's in 1938 and came to Britain. Can't blame Raab for being successful.
Ah ****ing magic. Three months out to new deal and I'm getting a new secretary of state. And if someone doesn't shoot that cock with the xylophone I will do it myself tomorrow...
300000 people potentially better already under boris already what new tax will be brought in to cover the tax loss New PM plans to raise stamp duty threshold from £125,000 to £500,000 and cut top-rate from 12% to 7%. @Savills say 300k buyers would pay no stamp duty. Likely to increase transactions but to dampen inflation also need to increase supply. #ukhousing
It's a glockenspiel, and you'll have to get to him before I do. The police should arrest him for nuisance
Pippa Cenis-Punt #FBPE #RevokeArticle50 #PV@CenisPunt Jul 23 Follow Follow @CenisPunt My aunt Jean, the family Leaver, just told me that Boris appointed Katie Hopkins as Foreign Secretary and Jim Davidson as Culture Secretary and LAUGHED when I burst into tears. It’s NOT FUNNY when it could so easily be true!
I get your exasperation, and it’s only on this thread that the dialogue between us disintegrates. I genuinely hope it works, but have absolutely no confidence that it will. It’s fine to call for unity and positivity, and if we had that people would definitely have something to feel better about, but it has to be accompanied by actions which most of the electorate will benefit from. What he is saying now will appeal to people who basically agree with him already, and even to them he has to deliver, but further alienate the many who don’t. You don’t get unity like that, just by repeating ‘be positive’ endlessly like some kind of crap management guru (they are all crap). Johnson certainly isn’t stupid, but he is weird, it’s really hard to tell what he stands for, and my conclusion is that he stands for nothing but himself. He did two terms as a mayor of London, the most left wing city in the country, and you don’t get that with a hard right economic and social agenda. I am pretty sure he is socially quite liberal and a far right free marketer economically, but would dump both to be popular. Now he is in the process of appointing the most economically and socially right wing cabinet this country has ever had, much more than under Thatcher who always had a few ‘wets’ on her team. Good move having Gove, an odious but capable man, as his fixer though. Really weird times. As a country fixated on ****ing Love Island fully deserves. In better news my wife has just complimented Laura Keunssberg, not for her searing political insight but for the fact that’s she’s not wearing tights in this heat but also hasn’t bothered with fake tan. She has also noted that Katya Adler has been reporting on EU developments from Bavaria, where nothing political is happening, and deduced that she is on holiday there but still working. It’s great living here, I learn stuff every day.
