This is the part which is a logical fallacy. If you were talking about historical shortages you would have a point, but it would be irrelevant to the post you were replying to (,and the brexit discussion)which was talking about current shortages, for which blame on Brexit cannot be ruled out by saying EU already had shortages. It's a nonsensical argument. Repeating the same mistake over and over again isn't helping you.
I’m am indeed Talking about Historical shortages. We don’t manufacture these medicines nor does the EU. Most of those shortages came about around 2014 on. You seem to deliberately dismiss what I and others say at times. You cannot blame Brexit for everything. Still you will still want the last word. So over to you.....I think you should look to the manufacturers and the reasons for the shortages. I’ll bet you a dime to a dollar it’s about raising the prices for those medicines and breaking some existing EU price agreements. Await the notice of price rises on those products. All or most of which cannot be manufactured at the moment by other sources.
The EU has some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world Beddy. Novo Nordisk (Denmark), Bayer and Boehringer Ingelheim (Germany), AstraZeneca (Britain), and that’s just a few. Why do you say we don’t manufacture medicines and neither does the EU?

UK tries to set up supply chain to bring in a medicine, exporter delays due to not knowing how the deal will look after Brexit, not wanting to invest in infrastructure and then have it it go to waste, historical shortage remains and Brexit takes blame. Theres one possible example to prove your logic wrong. Btw your realise pharmaceutical is like our 5th biggest export? Not sure where you get the idea we don't make medicine.
Goodness me I know we and the Eu manufacture medicines. My wife worked for one of the biggest in this country for 30 years. However when new medications are produced there is a license for only the inventors to be able approve the manufacturer of those medicines for a number of years. The Americans I believe brought this in years ago. I’m not saying all of the shortages fall under this category but a lot do I’m being told.
Yep. I would really like to see Labour’s 2017 manifesto put into practice. Maybe Corbyn needs to be reminded of the anti tax avoidance laws that the EU want to introduce, as it would help action his plans, if they ran alongside his manifesto.
The original post highlighted for me the loss brexit will bring in any number fields as UK professionals no longer qualify for membership of EU bodies. EU agencies already gone include the European Medicines Agency to Amsterdam and the European Banking Authority to Paris. EU space programmes, including Galileo and Copernicus under question along with manufacturing standards authorities. Oh and there was the job in Cork. Engineering job sites state something like "applicants must be qualified to work in the EU". So much to lose, as for gain I've seen nothing yet in all these years of discussions here and elsewhere that can compensate for the benefits of EU membership.
Been trying to keep away from any political news since the announcement that the Tories had picked that buffoon. Usually, I can find some merit in the unlikeliest of politicians, but we seem to have a glut of people around at the moment who appear to have not a single positive quality. Yeah I have little doubt Brexit is going to be throwing out issue's in medicine. I don't really know the degree though. Additionally what Beddy said about how it only applying to medicines imported from outside the EU implies to me that we are being protected from medicine licenses negatively affecting us from EU companies within the EU, probably by EU law we will lose when leaving the EU. But that's just guesswork really. Honestly I'm just happy Beddy actually gave out some information for me to think about. Only took verbally beating him for several pages like a pinata to get the candy
EU space programmes, including Galileo and Copernicus I've spent years asking for the definitive list of benefits that leaving the EU will bring. Nothing at all verifiable forthcoming bleatings about being in control, democracy and unicorns for all about it.
