I took my mum to the diamond league at Stratford yesterday. There's nothing quite like an athletics meeting to fry your brain - four events going on at the same time and roars from different parts of the stadium making you look to see what's going on. Hugely entertaining, got to see some real stars and good value for money. And I remain in the will for a few days...

Great tournament. Apparently the Americans rubbished the BBC best sporting moment of 2018 Award (the goal winning the Commonwealth Games) last year, comparing it with the superiority of Basketball. Always thought Basketball was a great game but have always felt that the rules are too much shaded. You are only allowed one carry, but I felt when watching it and playing it that that rule was very dodgy. Then I had the opportunity to play Netball and realised it was a tough game to play but that there was not this shading. So I'm a great supporter of Netball which I think is much undervalued as a sport opposite Basketball.
If it's so easy the USA should show us.
Well done NZ, and well done to Netball.
I get my grandson (who plays football) to watch netball when I can because I believe it helps to demonstrate the importance of movement off the ball. They only have 3 secs (I think) to release the ball so, if one or more players haven't made themselves available, the player with the ball is in trouble. I always stress upon him that the players who haven't got the ball are just as vital (sometimes more) than the player with the ball as it makes the job of the player with the ball so much easier. Also some of them are not bad lookers with nice legs. Not that that has anything to do with it of course

A wonderful Women's 5000m, somewhat spoiled by rubbish commentary. He wouldn't leave the world record alone, even when it went out the window after 2000m and paid next to attention to the other major athletes.

One Day 50 Over champs they may well be, but... I know Lords isn't the best results based ground for the England cricket side but the fact Ireland have England at 58 for 7 at lunch says that stat might be added too...!! <yikes><yikes>

68-9 jesus wept ...............

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

:)
Just lulling the Aussies into a false sense of security Cyc. All part of a very cunning plan.<laugh>

85 all out ................. a cunning ploy to ensure a result within 4 days? Only 1 recognised batsmen into double figures together with 2 of the bowlers. 4th top scorer was a chap called "Extras" <doh>

Well, the fightback begins, currently have the Irish sat at 149-7 so still game on, but you feel the chance of a huge upset win has gone now as the visitors needed to post a 280+ total to really put the ole foe under it...!!!
