Picture the scene: Ashley hands you the managers job in the summer and tells you there is the 35million to spend but I want to see 5 players in, what five do you realistically go for within the budget??

My choices would be:

Dempsey 7million-premier league experience and can play in many positions.
Odemwingie 4million-9 goals in the pl in a poor team and his parent club are willing to let him go on the cheap.
Van aanholt 2million-great for back up and for the future,cult hero.
Toivonen 10million-great striker,tall and has the presence to replace you know who.
Hangeland 7million-we need a bruiser at the back and a goal threat from corners,would compliment colo brilliantly.
 
- No way will we get Hangeland for 7 million.

- Toivonen isn't good enough IMO.

- Should we sign Aanholt when we have Ferguson?

We need experianced cover at Left Back, a proper Wnger who can beat a man and cross, a powerful natural goalscorer up front.
Maybe sign two strikers if needed or replace the players we lose, because lets be realistic, we're not going to hold on to all of our players.
 
I'd rather have a natural left back, to allow Ferguson to develop on the wing, in his natural position. I doubt we'd get van Aanholt for 2 mil though. Chelsea would be reluctant to sell him
 
N'zogbia (yes I know) and Rodallega- £17 mil

Adam £6m (less if they go down)
Krancjar £6m
Gervinho £8m ish

Might be worth negotiating a price now for Adam, I think Blackpool would take it and it would be a great move for the player closer to the border. One or two might leave in the Summer, Smith for one? So adding 5 is probably the minimum we need to do. Anelka supposedly will be moved on in the Summer and would be great for another season or two for us.
 
wasnt there something in the media during the week about the Yanks wanting Anelka cant remember which club

Elmander - Free (If we get him, might not need Rodallega, then get a backup leftback. Van Aanholt?)
 
Barnetta - 6mil (contract up in 18 months)
Kranjcar - 4mil (unhappy)
Ireland - 6mil (if he does well for us)
Pavlyuchenko? - 10mil (wants out)
Versatile defender LB/CB/RB - 5-10mil (cant think of a player off the top of my head)
