I will defend the one on Colo as he did not aim for the man - his eyes were on the ball - Coloccini did not need treatment at all for this - he got up and managed somehow to recover shortly after Bardsley had been sent off - Miraculous? Can't defend the one on Mata - looks like a stamp to me - but I also saw much worse from Kevin Davies at the weekend and he didn't even get a card (and the referee saw it) - it injured Tom Cleverley for 3 or 4 weeks and he never even got carded in any way - the ref didn't see Bardsley's so he couldn't send him off for it. The points we are making on here is that a large number of high profile players get away with things that are as bad or worse than what bardsley did - if that had been John Terry "stepping over" Sessegnon I'd be surprised if the FA even looked at it more than once - even if the ref's report did say he hadn't seen it - I don't think the FA have bottle unless it's a so called "lesser club" We will never play on an even playing surface as the Sky Money 4 or 5 will always take preference over the also rans of this world
I said straight after the game Bardsley will be retrospectively charged. It was a deliberate stamp. We have to be fair about this, there should be no place in the game for this kind of behavior. Quite why Bardsley decided to stamp on Mata i can't understand.
I can't understand why he did it either because as soon as he did he turned round and said sorry, I wonder if he did not actually mean to make contact with Mata, more just intimidate him and it went wrong which is why he had the reaction he did and also why he has not appealed the ban. As others have said there is no place in the game for such behaviour and I am glad Bardo has taken his punishment and not made a fuss about it.
don't understand the extra game ban surely the punishment for the first sending off has been served and shouldn't be punished more because of it.
You get punished for each red card, and then get punished further for racking up too many red cards in too short a time. Red card offences are usually the most dangerous by far and can cause injury, so there needs to be an even heavier clampdown on anyone who looks like they're getting red cards on a regular basis. Plus, if someone received a suspension for one red card, and then got themselves another one shortly after, you could argue that the original punishment did not suffice as a deterrent and would therefore have to be increased.

disgusting what about this one got booked for diving as well
I'd like to think so but it doesn't look that way tbh.. I think everything just got to him, what with the situation the club are in, the news of gyan, the fact chelsea were running rings round us, and mata was making him look a bit of a fool. I think he had a moment of madness, saw red, then instantly came to his senses and thought "what the **** have I just done?" - completely out of character and I would bet good money on him not getting another red this season, but it's no excuse and the punishment is completely correct imo, unfortunately for us
