I see Sol Bamba and Paterson aren't going because they're not ready to play yet.

Tomlin and Madine can't go - they can't get visa's because of their police records. <doh>

It’s too far and unnecessary to go to USA and Canada.

Sharp contrast between there and Devon <whistle>

Better to have gone to somewhere in Europe like Portugal or Belguim.

A far cry from the old days of pre season training in the dunes at Merthyr Mawr and then a game with Swindon.

Whatever happened to the old pre season tournaments such as the Watneys Cup or the Anglo- Scottish Cup?

That puts the kaibosh on Tomlin impressing on the tour but positively gives Madine more time to find another club. I saw an article (WoL I think) yesterday.

Some people responded one of whom thought he was a good striker who just didn't score enough goals, again <doh>. Someone needs to explain to that numptie the concept of a striker.

Saw another article showing the San Antonio pitch where our first game is to be played. The best way to describe it is like a Cardiff parks pitch in April after a long and hard winter, I.e. no grass, and an unusually warm, dry and windy spring. A cabbage patch without the comfort of cabbages to cushion falls. Quite frankly it looks really dangerous and I can't believe we will risk our players on that.

I thought you would be heading East not West.

I saw a photo of that pitch in the states, not good for a pre-season friendly!

Agree with Nin - this long trip is unnecessary,

Apart from the Spanish side they're playing in Canada, how can you judge your standards by playing these sort of sides?

Also wasn't someone at the club able to foresee the visa problem with Tomlin and Madine?

On a different front, the media is full of the gay footballer coming out. Now it seems the player is in a Championship side. Completely with no evidence, I did start to wonder if Tomlin's tough period recently might be related. Taking 2 + 2 and making 59, I see also that Nigel Owens has given some help that might point to a S Wales connection. I also thought it might be a Swansea player but went away from that thought when I saw they mentioned a strong Championship side....or such-like!!!!!
I hasten to add I find it rather tasteless that, in this day and age, it is so newsworthy. But it is for the moment. I am sure that the football world will be supportive and show some clear positive views.

Thats the crux of it furter.

The fact that it is newsworthy just underpins the problem there is within football's culture.

The thing that's got me is why such a big build up. Either break the news or dont. No need for a teaser.
Its got me thinking if this is a wind up. Or if someone is threatening / blackmailing a player.

There was news of two premier league players were going to come out as gay a few years ago. Then the story went dead. Is it possible this is going to be another non-event?
