Just when i thought i couldn't love him any more :emoticon-0115-inlov

Shame on his agent though for trying to leave him miserable at Monaco for a bigger cut.

Oh no i agree, but there are parallels there, 2 managers coming into something that could be special.

I'd be very surprised if we did do this with what we've spent already, sounds like a versatile CM, i can't see him playing unless there are injuries, unless he'd provide something different.

By all accounts up north hes very good though, just don't want him to come here and benchwarm.

Re McGregor, depends how much deadwood from CM we can shift. If we could move on James and King (for all they have done for us we have moved on) and even Silva, space could open up

I don’t think anyone could match Pearson in terms of what he did building the club as a whole from the lowest point we were in, recovering from Sven’s trolley dash and then leaving us on the verge of the title. The scouting and sports science side were quality under him

Just playing devils advocate for a min

Silva, James and King’s future here seems numbered

There is still question marks over Mendy leaving us with the exciting 4 of Tielemans, Ndidi, Maddison and Choudhury. All are 22 years old except Choudhury who is 21

So do we lack abit of knowhow in midfield when it comes to closing games out. Going back to the championship winning season Nigel Pearson signed Dean Hammond to come on close games out

During the premier league winning season that job fell to Andy King and Brendan Rodgers used Mendy last season. Mendy only has a year left on his contract so really either needs to be offered a new deal or be sold

So does Brendan need to look at an experienced defensive midfielder to come off the bench and help close games out? Does he trust the youth or do we just run Mendy’s contract down?

Apparently we’ve bid £28m for Thauvin. He is excellent and Marseille fans are fuming. Looks like it would take £50m. Get him in and then business all done for the summer.

Already been rubbished. Its just the “itk” twats on twitter who said that. They know nothing

Sky have said West Ham are in talks and Marseille want £35M and Hernandez from them

While his record is great at Marseille but he was beyond awful for Newcastle

If we spend big on a winger this summer, i don't us keeping Maguire, I'd rather stick with what we have and start the season 4-2-3-1 so we wont need an out and out winger anyway, putting 3 behind Vardy that can get into the box and contribute more goals <ok>

Well talk is our budget is £100M plus what ever we sell

    Tielemans £35M
    Justin £6M
    Perez £30M so

    That leaves us £29M left

If we manage to get rid of Silva, Slimani, King, James, Jakupovic and Ghezzal that should bring in another £15-20M at least. Most of that coming from Silva and loads off the wage bill

So Rodgers could be left with nearly £50M to get a winger in

And then if we sell Maguire he could have another £150M left to buy a centre half, winger and anyone else he wants

Me personally I prefer we sign a winger and keep Maguire and we are done

Maybe this is the reason we are interested in McGregor, maybe a bit of long term planning :emoticon-0138-think, might also be good to have him here incase Moneybags Utd come calling next summer for our entire midfield.

Easy for me to say, but if it took £50m to get Thauvin in I’d just pay it and shut up shop for the summer. Easy in theory...

Because of his Newcastle spell I would be reluctant to spend that. Rather go after someone like Leon Bailey

    Different type players

Personally this is the reason why I would keep Andy King. Great around the team with his experience. Happy to be a squad player, good for goal and does a job still. When were winning bring him on for Maddison to help close games out

We are linked with 25yo Belgian CM Dennis Praet from Sampdoria - he is an international teammate of Tielemans.

No clue how he would fit into the team as unlike McGregor he won't want to be here as a backup.

If we was to lose Maguire who would you like to see replace him if we sign someone?

We may use Soyuncu and Benkovic to replace him but if we sign someone Lewis Dunk has been linked but I would prefer Nathan Ake from Bournemouth

Its a dangerous game for us. If we buy a defender now its obvious Maguire leaves and weakens our hand

Or if we buy a defender afterwards all the prices go up

But I still think Maguire will stay
