He's not the greatest full back I've ever seen, but he's far from terrible.

Most will have consciously blocked out the memory of albert playing left back, but how many times would you have given anything for a decent defensive full back when you where staring at Moreno stood next to there keeper while our keeper was picking the ball out the back of the net.

Being better than Moreno doesn't make you good enough.

When we had Carroll, Downing, Adam and co, people were regularly saying "he's better than what we've got" when linked to a player. I was constantly questioning that mentality. We didn't want better than what we'd got, that wasn't the standard we should have been aiming for. We wanted players good enough to get in a top four side at the time.

Now, we want players good enough for a title winning side. Clyne, doesn't fit the top four category, never mind the title side.

Decent defensive fullback at a 6th to 12th type club imo

i disagree slightly, nothing wrong with him as a defender, just we don't play that way, and he is poor going forward.

I don't do pre-season. I believe MITO covered all the pointless games in one thread last year

Edit; @astro as done one, bumped it

Divock Origi will reportedly sign a four or five-year contract with Liverpool.

The Belgium forward became a key player for the Reds towards the end of last season, and Jurgen Klopp decided to keep him around rather than selling the striker this summer.
And Belgian football expert Kristof Terreur says a new deal is on the cards.
“Liverpool offered him a new contract before the Champions League final,” Terruer told theSky Sports Transfer Talkpodcast.
“They’ve been talking to the agent after the final. The player hasn’t made a decision. He has been promised a bigger role next season now Sturridge has left. They’ve offered him good money.
“I think he will sign new deal for four or five years.”

tapped up by Lazio.
Adekanye joined the Serie A side this week following the end of his Reds contract, and Liverpool chiefs are worried Adekanye was approached by Lazio while still under contract.
Under FIFA regulations, players under the age of 23 are not allowed to hold talks with other clubs while remaining under contract.
Liverpool have asked FIFA to look into the circumstances of the transfer, theECHO report.

Rangers will have to wait to get a deal done for Ryan Kent with Liverpool set to give their star players extra time off.
Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are all set to miss the first three weeks of pre-season having been given a break following international commitments over the summer.
According to theDaily Record, Kent is now certain to go on Liverpool’s US trip and Rangers will not be able to re-sign the winger, who had a successful loan spell at Ibrox in 2018/19, until after the start of the Premiership season.
