I don't think you can compare tea sipping to Nazis.
It was not the classiest of moves, but soccer players have never been all that classy. I think it's being blown out of proportion to some extent.
I think sometimes we put the women on a pedestal which is actually kind of sexist. We act like the women play the game the way it's supposed to be played and their games are more "pure," etc. But they dive, they commit cheap fouls, they waste time, they surround the ref and moan, and yeah they troll their opponents and talk trash. And then sometimes the backlash is worse than it should be because people have this false vision of them.
I would expect England to be mad, as they have every right to be. And they'll remember that. And then England will score against the US at some point and we get some kind of "I'm a fat American scarfing down a Big Mac" celebration, and that will be poor sportsmanship as well, but the US would deserve that and I will not complain..
So yeah, I would never do what Morgan did. I find it a little mean-spirited. In my world, you'd get yellow carded for that. But in my world, no World Cup or professional game would end with more than 15 players on the pitch because I'd yellow card them for all the little stupid **** they do like screaming at the ref, any amount of handbags, etc.
But that's in my world. In the real world, what Morgan did was nothing special and I don't see the fuss.
