Isn't the difference amazing.

Players not good enough for Liverpool like Solanke, Ings, Smith, Ibe etc get sold for fortunes that Liverpool put to great use in the market...

Players not good enough for United like Smalling, Jones, Young, Mata etc get 4 year contract extensions with payrises...

One is winning their 6th while the other is fighting for 6th. Difference between the elite and a team that got lucky with one manger I guess.

Wum thread, weak in subject and not to your your usual standard mate so I'm putting it down to boredom and closed season blues.

Another one as **** as this though and you'll be in Sucky territory, and you don't want to go there.

Any chance you can tell me what I've said wrong (bar Mata only getting 3 years etc)??

Well none of it really adds up. What are you saying, Liverpool have won a major trophy so doing things the right way? But it's taken them 7 years to get there. So all that means is it takes time. So why shouldn't United or any other club be afforded the same time?

And yet in that time with 2 separate managers (both of who were unsuitable) we still managed to win 3 major trophies which also discounts your one manager comment.

I don't think trophies in themselves tell us anything. Even if Liverpool hadn't won the CL (and even if United had sold off the ****e in our ranks,) the real indicator of progress is what you see on the pitch week in week out. There's better harmony and sense of identity about Liverpool as much as the quality.

All in all, it's an OP which contradicts itself everywhere.... but above all (and the reason for my earlier reply,) it's a bloody United/Liverpool thread which is about as predictable and exciting as a Gerrard vs Scholes thread! <whistle>

So Liverpool aren't selling players not good enough for decent money and you're happy Jones, Smalling and Young are getting extensions?

There's a lot I'm unhappy with about United atm and selling surplus dross is just a part of it. None of it has anything to do with being elite or lucky.

Liverpool just doing great business while United are doing business? You'll agree with that?

I'd go further and say with the exception of 2 or 3 we've done a lot of **** business. We have a moron in charge though so doesn't help. A fanboy who wants glitzy big name signings.

Hopefully that changes now as we've bought 2 very talented young players who we can develop for the long term.

Btw Livpl have only recently begun to do good business. That hasn't always been the case. But shows if you get the football right and the ethos, it doesn't take long to turn things around.
