On BBC1 tomorrow (Sunday) at 10:30pm, there’s a programme called Royal Team Talk where Dan Walker, Thierry Henry, Danny Rose, Peter Crouch, Prince William, Jermaine Jenas and Gareth Southgate talk about men’s mental health and their experiences.

Struggling today (and everyday) at work. I just can't be around people. I work in an office full of nice people who seem cool with my complete inability to answer phones but I still spend the entire day a nervous, stressed, miserable wreck. I didn recenty get a diagnosis as being on the autism spectrum.

Offices aren't for me, but I can't seem to find anything else. I did work as a postie whilst at uni, didn't hate that. I apply for every local postie position that comes up but don't get an interview. I half suspect they discount me because I have a degree.

So if anybody knows of any work going please let me know. The more menial the better. The less human interaction the better. I'm not even that arsed about money. As long as I have enough to get by.

I don’t know if it’s allowed or not but could you not include your degree in your application for the sake of maybe getting an interview?

Was at my uncles funeral in the week. Sadly he took his own life.

He had suffered with a lot of health problems. Type 1 diabetes since childhood with plenty of related issues that often come with it. Won't list them all but cataract surgery a few years ago and a triple heart bypass 15 years ago. Eventually he had to give up work.

A couple of months ago he was in an induced coma and on TPN. Was recovering well and seemed in good spirits but clearly everything just got too much for him.

Collection was for andys man club. Well recommend any men out there that are struggling to check them out.

TreeHugger - you need to let your HR Dept know. There is usually a support network that you can contact that might be able to help. Also, your employer has a duty of care to make that your work environment is right (Desk top assessment) - if too noisy etc then suggest work in an office or quiet area on your own. Any reasonable adjustment to your work environment has to be offered. (Speak to the Health & Safety person)
I have heard of a person diagnosed with aspergers who because of his dislike to people has a job of proof reading documents and books. Maybe this type of work is something that is available in your area.
Really hope things improve for you

Without getting too political it’s important that you involve your trade union too if you can.
Regardless of anyone’s views about unions they do some great things supporting people who would benefit from reasonable adjustments

I have panic disorder and agree with you 100%. A couple of people have considered me 'weak willed'. That was infuriating, because if they only knew how strong willed I've had to be, to carry on with a perfectly normal lifestyle. Well I'm sure they'd be embarrassed and humbled.

Mental illness has absolutely nothing to do with how weak willed we are. In fact it's often the complete opposite.
