Big shout out to Faxe in the giant can a bit of a gimmick but it's backed up by it being a good beer.

This stuff is getting popular and is a good beer but maybe on the strong side (doesn't taste it though).

I think it also has a lot to do with the setting and timing ...

Few years ago we were heading down to South West France and stayed overnight at Chartres on the way ... dropped off the bags sand headed towards the Cathedral ... there was a bar called the Serpentine (I think( him the shadow of the Cathedral ... was late afternoon and we'd been travell8ng since 6am ... had a pint log Kronenbourg 1664vserved in an iced glass ... still one of the best pints I've ever tasted ... great start to the holiday.

There is an Italian beer called Poretti which is very drinkable ...

They turn up in Lidl now and then, I always grab a couple. They remind me of years ago I don't think I'd seen them in about 20 years.

Never the same in the UK as over there for some reason - always seems quite watery and flat over here in the bottle.

Been told its something to do with the chemical in our beer over here which is why when you go to Germany you get ****ered on lager and never seem to get too much of a hangover compared to here.

I've done Octoberfest on multiple days over 3 trips and it is noticeably different.

Lowenbrau brewed locally is just so nice.

German lagers in general are really good in my experience.
