OK, lets see what part of this you disagree with, Watford:
In Germany, if you burn a national flag you can be arrested and face a fine or maximum 3 years imprisonment (if accompanied by a breach of the peace)
Germany want to introduce the same laws into the EU.
These are authoritarian laws, not enacted by the UK because we believe in freedom of expression
Your thoughts?
That you’ve been sucked in by an extreme possibility that requires a number of other factors to become true.
Why do you presume that when I never mentioned Jeremy Corbyn..And I assume that you think Comrade Jezzbollah Corbynski is.
Dont burn flags then....simplesIt only requires one factor in Germany - you burn a flag
We'll see how the proposition is received by the EU, but given it's the paymaster Germany proposing it, I'd say there's a fair chance it will be enacted

We all have been sucked in by pure propaganda on all sides of arguments that the media put out to serve a purpose. That's why, in my opinion, this country is just as corrupt as the next.
Caroline Flint talking a lot of sense on Marr’s show just now.
Says she has 26+ Labour MPs prepared to vote for the Government’s orderly Brexit deal - thereby potentially offsetting the hard-nosed ‘no dealers’ in the Blue corner - but would reluctantly support a Hard Brexit over remaining. A new PM would be an ‘event’ in EU parlance so may allow for some movement in May’s proposition. We’ll see, if course.
“If we don’t represent the views of the traditional working class [on delivering Brexit in this instance] then what is the point of the Labour Party?”
Will it?The next will be - defacing the photograph of our dear leader will lead to a fine or imprisonment
Are the laws not passed by elected parliamentarians, and if enacted at EU level will require that The EU Parliament votes on them too? You may remember that you voted in an election for this parliament a couple of weeks ago. So it’s not authoritarian, in the sense that it’s imposed by a government with no assent from the people’s representatives. This is the kind of crap you get in Parliamentary democracies.OK, lets see what part of this you disagree with, Watford:

UK representatives will either get the chance to vote on them, or not if we actually leave the EU. If they vote against but are overruled by a majority bad luck, that’s the way it works, cf Brexit Referendum.
Of course it’s a **** law. I would advocate that burning flags should be a sponsored sport, and doing away with the things they represent a matter of urgent priority.
So no actual response to the fact that this is a stupid, but democratically arrived at law, the ‘authoritarian’ tag is bullshit. Your problem is that you don’t like the EU. We knew that. I don’t know why you need to reinforce it. Your problem is the failure of a British, sovereign government and Parliament to deliver. You highlight the problem with the EU. For Cologne, as a German citizen, it is quite appropriate for someone who disrespects a national flag by burning it (even if they have paid good money for it) to be arrested, fined and imprisoned if they cause a disturbance. On the basis, presumbly, that it's disrespectful, could cause offence and lead to disorder on the streets.
But that is contrary to our culture. I don't think that much of flags or flag burners but bringing in the criminal law through the EU is a one of the many reasons I'm not comfortable being part of the organisation.
I will try it and test your theoryYep, you scrawl a Hitler moustache on a photograph of Premiere Boris, and they'll drag you away off to Wormwood Scrubs until you've seen the error of your ways

Everybody loves free speech until they get offended by what someone else says. I am intensely suspicious of sweeping statements about ‘culture’.

On a serious note, burning national flags or those that belong to a group of countries like the union Jack, should be frowned upon. Saying that, anyone who wants to burn a flag either, has too much time on their hands, is a pyromaniac or just a dickhead!I'll come and visit you. Do you like grapes?
