Although I would have preferred Charlton, I feel confident that we can progress through to the fourth round with a win against the Lillywhites at SMS. We have a genuine chance of doing well in this comp. Adkins has a good attitude towards the cup and such is the squad's strength and depth and competition for places, that our '2nd' XI are still a match and more for many of the teams we will meet.

UTS!!

Yeh perhaps but I feel because of our recent cup successes against them that we could have continued in that vein. Preston have won their last five apparently. They have a long away trip to Brentford on the Saturday and then us on Wednesday so let's hope their stay is disrupted and unpleasant. I can see us going through.

I woulkd really like us to win this and get a top Premiership team in the next round. Home to Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal (I know I said "top", but they'll do)

Just booked my ticket - this will be my first trip to St Marys this season and I can't wait for it. Good to see there are three more midweek home games before Christmas too.

I think James Ward-Prowse should be on the bench after his impact in the U21 match the other day. Excellent goal and looks like a very good player in the making.

Is it just me who thinks this, but have we not had quite a few Home ties in the Cups, drawn out of the hat, over the last few years..? Many more than Away fixtures..? Unless it's a two-legged affair, every time our name pops out of the hat, invariably we're drawn at home.

I'm not complaining, just making the observation. :D

Prior to the Swindon game, we had an incredibly long streak of home draws...can't remember how many exactly, but the odds of it happening were extremely slim.

We'll almost definitely be fielding something other than the regular XI for that one; with five games in thirteen days, it's the one that matters the least.

These cup games can be very important in getting the winning habit. Imagine us losing a couple of games (I know this takes a stretch of the imagination<laugh>) then we play and win a League or FA Cup game and regain confidence. No game is unimportant, though I wouldn't risk a player carrying a knock.
