From my experiences with the police over the past year in emergency situations I couldn’t disagree with you more.
All I have met seem to be caring individuals who are there to do what can be a difficult and frustrating job, in often life threatening situations.
Of course morale is low through staff shortages and the reams of paperwork that they have to do, but the ones I have met seem to do their job well and to the best of their ability.

And as for the French police......you only have to see the daily videos of the brutality and bullying dished out to see how they get their supposed ‘respect’....I know which police force I’d prefer.

Of course I’m biased as my eldest has just joined the Police and starts training this year.....so take my ramblings with a bit of bias.

Like I said it’s about experiences
Yes the French police are rough but they rarely get the wrong man imo ... not many records of them shooting the wrong person
If pushed they bite

Also I was talking about them socially
No doubt the culture of the U.K. does turn many

Respect your experiences but it won’t ever change mine
 
Anyone watching the great debate? Tremendous thighs on show. Stewart seems to have adopted a completely different body language to the others, much more engaged. Emily Maitlis has very little control.
 
Sajid Uncle Fester Javid is tragically lightweight and hysterical. They are all happily agreeing the **** out of each other while saying bugger all. Just noticed that Rory doesn’t have a tie on! Rebel! He is the anti Boris attack dog, quite fun, in a Jesus **** are we stuck with one of this bunch kind of way.

Fair enough mate, but I think if you ask your average second generation French-Algerian living in the suburbs of Paris, their opinions of the French police might be somewhat different.

Gove apparently went into politics to help the very poorest in society. With the Tories?

Maitlis really is useless. Stewart is actually offering an alternative view, whether it is a Tory view is an interesting question.

Know what this debate is missing? Andrea Leadsom. She’d spice it up.

Don’t bother mate, it’s dire. Though Gove apparently has a ‘detailed plan’ for everything. Detailed but up to now invisible.

Candidates are starting to ignore Maitlis and argue among themselves. It's turning into an Eton and Charterhouse debating chamber with a Scottish grammar kid and local Muslim boy invited

To be fair, apart from Stewart, who the Tory haters have adopted as their poster boy, the rest could say anything and you Tory haters would criticise.

Not all Tories are evil Just As not all Labour politicians are own country hating, terrorism supporters.

That would have been much better. Now they are all, with the exception of Stewart, busily promising both tax cuts and increased public spending, the latter a startling roll back on the government policy since 2010, which these ****wits designed and implemented. Stewart getting loads of airtime, Johnson trying to say as little as possible.

Stewart is looking less and less like a Tory with every passing minute, I don’t know what he’s doing there. Honestly mate, none of them are saying much at all.

Logic dictates that as you pay for public services with tax money, you can’t have more of the first with less of the second. I’d say the same if any politician of any party made the same promise. Honest.

I didn’t realise that Hunt has promised to cut corporation tax to 12.5%.

Islamophobia and Trump now. Bit more interesting.

Stewart losing the plot now, he really has been allowed to talk too much.

There was a reason for austerity, although I readily agree that it cut far too deep for too long.

Very few of the politicians in this era are of any calibre whatsoever.
