PSG are offering that amount so he doesn't go anywhere else. Maybe they have to do that because they aren't his 1st choice. My point about earning was about earning the move i.e what he's done so far warranting it. We all accept players don't earn their huge salaries. If I were his parent I would be advising against greed as a motivator, he will get a handsome salary wherever he goes. I would ask him, money aside, what would be his dream move. Then get his agent working on that.
So you think he wouldn't be made for life on £100k per week? Never mind the £150k to £200k he'd realistic get anywhere else bar PSG anyway It's definitely not a move in the interest of his development, it's a move for his bank account and easy life/trophies.
People in Bangladesh would probably ask why anyone would take a £100k per year job just for the money when a £50k job is so extravagant.why would anyone need an extra £50k a year when making that much money? £250k and £100k per week may sound equally absurd to you or I because it's far above what we make... It may seem absurd amounts either way but a big expensive super yacht could cost £50mill. That's 9 years wages at 100k. Less than 3.something at 250k. Not something you or I worry about. But a career at 100k a week is having a few mansions. 250k a week is having a few mansions, your own private fleet of aeroplane's and a super yacht.
Depends what a player values more: money, development or titles. You can get decent money anywhere, Spain, Germany, PSG, City, ****ing even China will pay obscene amounts. Some players choose money and head to China or PSG for easy, big money but never receive the accolades. Spain, Italy, Germany and the PL will give you both the accolades and the money - although it might be less cash than in France or China - but then you're risking being parked on the bench and never playing or developing. Some clubs will offer development and a shot of glory, but won't be able to keep up financially with the other clubs, just a 'good' salary in the middle 100ks a week Players have to ask themselves what they really want. Where they end up says a lot about them.
Of course it's about money, I never said otherwise. He's absolutely in the right to go after the money if he wants. So would you or I. He's in this for himself not for you or other football fans. They're all in it for themselves.
I know last year we where linked with Maguire and that was ridiculous. Gomez and vvd are perfect for the type football we play. If we where in the state of United I can see why they would take the gamble. I'm not sure why psg are that bothered, their problem isn't the players but the level of competition, they could have the greatest 11 ever, but if your playing ****e week in and week out, winning every game five nil, your levels are going to drop
I agree with you that it's up to him if he wants to go after the money but I disagree that "he's absolutely in the right". I don't think he is.
Fun fact: When Kevin Keegan joined Liverpool in 1971 he was offered £45 a week, he said he wanted more and they settled on £50.
different era though jb, only one who was a star back then was probably best because of the image rights and modeling side of the game. even music its more important what you look like now days, ability to sing is an after thought sadly. we used to sign players and they would be in digs or house sharing, now days the ****ers are richer enough to buy their own ruddy house out right and thats just youth level
You're right mate, different time, different standard. I just thought it added a bit of perspective. Either that or it made me look old
Me neither. Of course I'd like to have plenty of money, but after reaching a certain level other considerations would take precedence. Any footballer of his calibre will be set up for life wherever he goes, so the other factors would be what swayed my decision. I've mentioned this several times on here, but some simply refuse to believe it. I've made a small number of career choices in my life, and never once has money been the deciding factor.
Same. I could earn more elsewhere but I've no interest in moving employer. Been in my current role seventeen years and counting #happinessovermoney
What's your job? I moved jobs last year. Both my jobs are public sector work and **** money. I moved last year for less money and worse holidays.
