Ah, Lawrence Shankland.
The striker has been linked with Sunderland for well over a year now, but the Black Cats could be set to FINALLY seal a deal - according to some reports.
The Scottish Sun believe that the Black Cats have offered the hotshot a contract after he netted 34 goals last season.
Fingers crossed that he can continue that form if he does sign!

There are number of clubs after Shankland, we are also linked with Stewart Downing and Dimitrios Konstantopoulos, we should have some fun on here with that last one. <laugh>.

not while there are dogs in the street...............are you hibernating ..............................why
I think I'm still here, don't want to come on and be honest/realistic , a few see it as being over critical and it upsets some on here but I thought we'd had our fingers burnt shopping in those Scottish Leagues last season . On other sites the jury is out on Mr Dross , ( for me he's dull and the football boring ) signing more from Scotland isn't the way forward, as someone on here pointed out, Waghorn was like Aguero up there.

The football wasn't boring at the start of the season. I don't think he's had the players to play the game he wants since Maja went. Since then, all he's been able to do is lump it at Wyke. And Wyke is crap.

Perhaps, we had nothing without McGeady, any team would have finished top 6 with him in the team.

Twitter has quite a few saying "why aren't we doing business - is this takeover making us miss out on targets"

I'm of the opinion that we'll get things done - very few players are moving now as most are on their holidays - not seen any done deals for those around us in our division so not sure what the pissy moaners (follow up to peaky blinders?) are on about
We might have to wait until the last few days of the window for one or two of our priority signings to become available so our fans are just going to have to try and keep their dummies in for once.

I'd rather we played the long waiting game to nail our top targets than go after mediocre players just to appease some of our support.

The big disappointment here is how poor Grigg has been, we need a better alternative than Wyke, Marquiss in, Wyke out, might be a decent move, involving Kimpioka more also makes sense. But its early days and we are going to need to be patient, and use whatever cash we have wisely for once.

We became over-reliant on McGeady towards the end. We could win games without him when there was more movement in the side and we were pressing higher.

That's true, earlier in the season when we had Maja and the football was (relatively) flowing it didn't matter a lot if McGeady played or not. After he left and we had an ineffective Wyke and zombie Grigg creativity dried up and he was needed.

I haven't seen a lot of Marquis but I have seen Tom Eaves and he's more mobile than Wyke, which is what we need.

I just want to see some pace in the side for once. We've not had pace on the wings or up front for years.

None of Mcgeady, Gooch, Honeyman, Wyke, Grigg, Power, Maguire who are out attacking options have any pace between them.

Pace and power needed (excusing the obvious pun re: Max) throughout the side

Only O'Nien, Hume and Gooch offer pace in wide positions. Perhaps Duncan when he comes back, but we need one more with pace in the middle and up-top.

Power sorely missing at centre-half, in the middle & up-top - 3 to 4 positions

You've missed out Watmore Jack.
Mind think the first half of next season could be make or break for him.

I'm barely counting him due to his injury record, but he's our only one with pace agreed.

I don't think any of them have any real raw pace which scares defenders.
