The people who beat up the two lesbians the other day weren’t baby boomers. They were from your supposedly enlightened generation,

No, they were kids. Generation beneath mine. The so called soft, sensitive ones.

It was ****ing disgusting, regardless of their age. I hope they get punished to the fullest extent.

As a teenager in the late 60's I was too pre occupied watching my own back. Homophobia hadn't been discovered yet, it was known as survival. It was a part of growing up. I bet more young people got a kicking for living on the wrong estate/street/town then ever did for being 'openly gay' as you put it.

<laugh>

Yes. Sometimes just getting a bus into town was risky if a large group from another estate was already on board.

I was never quite sure what to do in the case of Ray Harvey, given grief because of his pigmentation, but a merciless bully. What would a woke person have done? Confronted him for being a bully or apologised for not fighting endemic racism more?

Other issues I failed to address in the 70s which with 20/20 hindsight I should have done to avoid the dreadful imperfect world today's kids have inherited include-

- the Birmingham 6
- Bloody Sunday
- coal powered power stations
-ageism and male chauvinism
- archaic licensing laws
- our ill-advised entry into the Common Market
- endemic bullying and violent behaviour
- TV which finished at 11 oclock
- polluted rivers and waterways
- cruel humour based on demeaning stereotypes
- exotic dancers Sunday lunchtimes
-bent violent coppers

In my defence, we didn't have the internet, computers, video recorders or any networking/voice apart from the youth club, school or the playing field.

There was always John Sheridan's I suppose for the woke ****s, but I went in once and that was once too often. If only I'd known that 44 years into the future some computer game playing kid would be lambasting my generation's failings!

So now that you live in a world with all the things you mentioned, presumably you do more to combat homophobia than you did 44 years ago?

I feign an interest in scatter cushions and pretend to 'like' the Eurovision song contest if that's what you mean?

No politics Thanks !!

Buckinghams article in HDM epitomises (for me) the total lack of respect the Allams have for anyone but themselves. Just plain ****ing rude and arrogant.

Whilst Adkins postpones an overseas family holiday and leaves his diary free hoping to get his contract sorted out, the spoilt brat son can **** off to the Monaco Grand Prix. Priorities eh?

They're an appalling couple, they really are.

It's what owners do...

God almighty, now I know why I don't come on here that often now. I've just read 3 pages of arguments, how many more do I have to go through before I actually get to the topic in question !!
how long have you been on this forum jules...?
