Palacios and Crouch are in both our squad and Stoke's. These cuptied rules are obviously a lot more lax than I thought
It's been updated again since then SF, but only on the front page of our section. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2012/clubs/club=1652/index.html At the bottom. No players that we don't own, plenty of B players and no Friedel or van der Vaart.
Aha, excellent On a side point, why didn't we give Pienaar a better number this term? I know he hasn't really set the World alight for us but being number 40 is a bit ****.
Livermore is O21 anyway, and U21s have to have been eligible to play for us for 3 consecutive years. That means that Walker, Rose and Falque needed to be in the main 25, not the B list. So, from our Prem 25, VDV, Friedal and Button have given way.
So if we exclude Saturday's team and the injured, we are left with 18 players. Obviously some of the Saturday team may be on the bench, but they will still be tired from the travelling ahead of a big game on Suunday Carlo Cudicini Heurelho Gomes Jordan Archer Jesse Waller-Lassen Sébastien Bassong Vedran Ćorluka Andros Townsend Dean Parrett Jake Livermore Jake Nicholson Ryan Fredericks Thomas Carroll Alex Pritchard Cameron Lancaster Giovani dos Santos Harry Kane Iago Falqué Roman Pavlyuchenko Must confess I've never heard of Waller-Lassen or Pritchard, but a team of Carlo Charlie Seb Waller-Lassen (Centre Half, full back?) Andros Gio Jake L ? ? Harry Pav Not going to terrify the Greeks is it. A bit disapppointed not to see Coulibaly available!
Pritchard seems to be an attacking midfielder, HD. He did a lot in the 7-1 game against Inter recently and played against a West Ham XI yesterday.
On the UEFA site there is a nice little master class from Sandro http://www.uefa.com/trainingground/...oid=1614049.html#sandros midfield masterclass
Nice reminder of another injured player that we're badly missing. His performances against Milan last season were absolutely outstanding. It'll be interesting to see what Redknapp does if/when we have all of our midfielders fit.
And therein lies the mess we have gotten ourselves into. We either play a scratch team, or Harry has to backtrack and some players that shouldn't be on the plane will be. Incidentally, I thought Corluka was injured. If so, the mess is even bigger.
I thought it was Alnwick went on loan? No loss there if true also, why we gave him a new contract is beyond me. His wages will be probably be the same as Caulker's and Smith's combined, if not more so. I guess now he's out on loan Os are paying some of his wages anyway, assuming it is him and not the other. It's a mess either way, a waste of a squad place.
I'd assume that some of those that beat Wolves will play on Thursday due to our injury problems, assuming that we don't get anyone back. Assou-Ekotto and Kaboul would probably be the most likely candidates.
Depends on who else is available, SF. If Huddlestone's back, then I'd like to see him and Livermore given a shot in the middle. Could play all three, I guess, but with Falque and Dos Santos in the frame, it might not be necessary. Gomes; Corluka, Kaboul, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto; Huddlestone, Livermore; Dos Santos, Falque, Townsend; Pavlyuchenko, perhaps? Parker and Walker in if Corluka and Huddlestone aren't available.
I've left out the odd player before, so it wouldn't have surprised me, to be honest! I often forget to put Bale in, for some reason.
