First race tonight at Bath , Pastfact 16/1 , race named in memory of trainers father , won’t mind the weather turning wet , loves the track , surely been aimed at this ?
Morning 5.55 Goodwood-Grandscape Each Way @ 7-1 [William Hill] 4 Places Can be hard ride but Amateur gets on well with him
With the stable flying a big run can be expected at Market Rasen [2.55] from Haafapiece Each Way @ 8-1 [Marathon Bet]
I was fully expecting to have a lazy bet on a few short priced Skelton horses at Uttoxeter today. However the ol boy has no runners there but the yard do send a sole raider, Comrade Conrad, up to Market Rasen with brother Harry doing the steering and his only ride of the day. Another lone raider is Lucinda Russell's Miss Batten at Uttoxeter. Former point winner over 3 miles and up to 3 miles today on debut over fences. In the lucky last at Uttoxeter Simply Lucky (40/1) looks a right old dodge pot. However by 5 pm the ground could be very easy and a featherweight, further reduced by a 7lb claimer, may just give this animal a squeak. Also has course and distance form when an inmate of a certain Dan Skelton. An ew patent on those 3. Good luck all.
I'm 'orf to Royal Ascot (or Ascot if old boy Jerry Corbyn gets in between now and then) 2 weeks today. Still to hear back though if I will be arriving in one of those carriages in the old procession...
Will need to have a consultation with my ‘style guru’ before making such a momentous decision. Not brown shoes or a cravat though as they have been banned. The latter I find a bit harsh as it is, of course, the preferred attire of one of the greatest ever Britain’s – old boy Sir Nicholas Parsons.
Topic close to many on here is the failing of one of the more prominent syndicates. EPDS seem to have major issues as reported by the Racing Post. It seems you can’t trust anyone in this day and age. Shocking news.
Just before I pop ‘orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrf can I just say that Ned Stark doesn’t go to Perth on Sunday but has an entry at Roscommon on Tuesday. Truly, truly astounding to think that 3 years after leaving Barbury Castle (for £70,000 and then you can add on a significant sum in training fees) it looks like he will finally get the chance to do what he was bought for – namely run over fences. As already detailed this week racehorse ownership can be financially crippling and not every time is it a case of drinking celebratory GnT’s in the ‘Owners and Trainers’ Bar with The Lieutenant, curtseying to Princess Camilla on the ‘victory plinth’ and exchanging witty repartee with Francesca in the ‘Winners Enclosure’. Like the above about EPDS let this be a warning to you all…
Bored at work, so picked out some random fancies for later on tonight... Haydock 5:50 - False ID @ 9/1 - Trainer has a 21% strike rate with this horse, good enough for me in this open race... 6:55 - Sir Ottoman @ 14/1 - Jason Hart usually rides out for Eric Alston, who has the current fav Redrosezorro in this, but goes with Ivan Furtado on his ride here. Might be he fancies this one more than t'other... Goodward 5:55 - Anif @ 8/1 - 3 wins from 6 for David Evans, so in half decent form... 7:05 - Charming Guest @ 14/1 - Taking a chance on the Channon horse finding a bit of form but if he dos every chance of making the final photo... Put em all in a e/w Lucky15... Cheers...
Backed the winner of the first before the non runner. Amazed to see my bet return minus the R4 at 1/2 about a horse who won at 1/10!!
Had a couple of quid on jack taylor in the 3.05 at Brighton. A bit quirky, just how I like them but not a great race with many with questions to answer. Was tempted with tony Carroll’s entry.
hi fellas! market rasen,3 55: it looks like it should only concern the top three here,at least on fresh form.OPECHEE ran quite a solid race last time out, even though the form isnt strong, but he is at least back on his last winning mark now,and he can be competitive today.
market rasen,4 30: a tight little race, with all of them holding some sort of chance, but one, that makes some appeal is ISKABEG LANE.has a very solid course record, and on a good mark again.the only slight negative is,that he usually plys his trade in a bit lesser company, but if he gets away with it,has a strong chance in this.
