I would think most footballers by June would prefer a break.....and if it's on Sky it will not be watched by too many fans either.

Watched the second half and with 10 mins to go, was going to report there was nothing much to worry England, assuming they can beat the Dutch.

Then Ronaldo scored 2 to get his hat trick, the first after a typically damaging run from Bernardo Silva.

Both sides did look jaded. It'll be down to whose minds are on the job and not on the beach.

Too many competitions now and it is in danger of becoming overload. Even I need a break from football for at least a short period and I'm a sad git where football is concerned.

Break from football? Sorry, no comprende, you'll have to explain that.

Don't tell me you aren't waiting to see who we do or don't sign. And this is a rare opportunity for England to win something, even if it is on the lines of the League Cup or whatever it's called now.

Can't see them beating Holland....assuming the Dutch have got a full strength team out.

I don't actually care if England win or don't win this competition whatever it's called. There are 2 international competitions. The European competition and the World Cup. The teams in this competition fall into one or other of those categories so why repeat the competition with an extra meaningless load of bollox.

I will be interested to see who we sign although the speculation on the other 1000 players we don't sign and have no interest in or chance with don't interest me one bit. It's like the endless interest some show in players that played for Argyle at some point previously. There are loads and loads and most of them eminently forgettable. Whenever somebody does sign there are those who speculate that they are a "wonderful signing" or are "the worst signing ever". How can anyone know who will shine and who will fail until they have at least played a game. I always love the "on paper" comment to assess a sides worth.

There you go lost 3 - 1 so it's another flatter to deceive England effort. We should be used to that by now. Move on.............

I think England have been watching Argyle's defensive ideas.

After a long run of relative success, England were truly dreadful at the back.

Stones and Maguire were terrible, failing to win headers at set pieces and taking stupid risks to give the ball away in deadly dangerous positions. Walker wasn't much better at RB.

I understand Southgate rightly wants to play out from the back but if multi-millionaire PL footballers can't make better decisions than that, God help us.

Didn't see any of this game....but followed it on here.....the stats suggest that Holland were far superior and definitely the better side.

Other than Rashford our attack seemed toothless but he had to go off injured....having then to eventually bring on a below par Kane just showed how desperate we became.....for England it was one match too far....but Virgil van Dijk who had played probably more football than anyone this season....certainly didn't turn up with a deck chair or beach ball.

Stones and Maguire looked lacking at this level and Pickford has dropped below his world cup form.

Why yet another European tournament.....can only be for the money it produces...not for the players welfare.

The forward line was the bright spot. Sterling especially shone, Rashford started quietly but then burst into life to win the (definite) penalty against the extremely highly rated De Ligt and then caught them out again when he got injured in a desperate saving tackle. England haven't yet managed to get the ball to Jordan Sancho in space but when they do, he's going to end some full backs' careers. He had one glorious moment when he squared Danny Blind (ex Man U) up in the penalty box and then with the slightest sway of the shoulders, got enough space to chip a cross to the far post that was begging to be headed in.

Having said that, England looked better balanced with Kane leading the line in the second half. He can come deep and hold the ball to join it all up, which Sterling doesn't do when in the middle. He was a lot livelier for England against Van Dyke than he was for Spurs in the Champions League Final. That may have been a game too soon for him to make his comeback from injury. Lingard scored what looked like a wonderful winner at the end of normal time but was ruled offside by VAR by the tiniest of margins.

All in all, the front three, the goalkeeper and Chilwell at LB did OK.

Which bits of him are offside? His left big toe nail and his right little finger at most.

Our problems were with a static midfield trio that gave the back four no one to pass to and lunatic defending.

I disagree most strongly about this being an unwanted competition. It's produced competitive international games all season instead of the usually dull friendlies it's replaced. I agree the timing of it should be changed, but that's true of the European club finals too, which took place far too long after our league season ended. Is that because only Britain doesn't have a winter break though and our leagues finish earlier than the others? Don't know.

Now Theresa is no longer Party leader....we are being subjected to all the hidden secrets swept under the carpet by each of the party leader candidates....cannabis....Cocaine taking.....etc, etc.....not that they want to tell us....but the fear of someone else revealing it later in the campaign and the fall out it would do to their chances of winning the PM job......what next will be revealed.....a crafty fag behind the bike shed when they were only 14.....on the other hand some weird sexual orientation in this politically correct world...would probably be seen as a plus.

Yes....just like miles, yards, feet & inches....all still legal in this country.....plus driving on the left side of the road....now that would cost £billions to swap over.

Just noticed that England v Switzerland are playing.....0-0 after 55 minutes......forgot that there was a 3rd place play-off.....rather an anti-climax.

Apart from notdistant does anyone else care? Today the cricket was on Sky, the Football was on Sky. the F1 grandprix was on Sky and all other things possibly you might squeeze a bit of interest in. We had on terrestrial the Woman's WC England v Scotland, a Triathlon competition in Leeds and on a free Sky Channel the Women's cricket WC. Soon if interest grows in that no doubt all of it will be on Sky.

I watched the England Scotland game. We should have murdered them and only managed a 2 - 1. It wasn't great. I also watched some of the cricket England v West Indies women. That actually wasn't bad but England won too easily.

As I said, the one thing about it is that boring friendlies with 29 substitutions each have been replaced with competitive games. Th PL don't like it because their players actually have to try in the England shirt and anything that upsets the PL must be a good thing.

You can't fight it Sensible. I see the BBC, having been lumbered with the cost of free TV licences by the Government, has today announced that only pensioners getting Pensions Credit will in future be entitled to free viewing. It's essential for the national well being that the BBC maintains its drama and and (mostly) excellent current affairs coverage but its finances are such that it's never going to compete financially for mainstream sports coverage again.

ITV tried with F1 but cocked it up and in doing so, let Sky in. As F1 has said it wants to widen its demographic which currently be characterised as "middle aged men wearing Rolex watches" and it may regret its decision to remove all free-to-air coverage.

It could get worse too. As players with big networks to fill like BT and Amazon try to grow their sports content, we could be left with needing just one subscription to Sky, but several to see the sports you want.

Not much Argyle news at the moment......so that leaves the weather....which is diabolical.....well into June....temperature has been varying between 48F (9C) and 55F (13C).....not a great deal of sun at present....that's difficult when it's raining...today it has been chucking it down all day...flooded roads, causing long tail backs.....tomorrow is suppose to be a bit better......but the forcast is showing rain until at least the weekend....which means I'll probably miss the grass collection on Friday....I'm not into cutting grass in the rain......
