On the topic on those who'd be willing to sell Hugo (I'd possibly consider it too, though the offer would have to be too good to refuse), who in this side would you deem are untouchable, in that if someone offered say £150m+ you'd still put the phone down and block their number?

For me there's four:

Vertonghen - despite his age and the fact he too only has a year left, he's still - as CK once said - a rolls royce of a defender.
Sanchez - he's the future, a new breed of CB that has the potential to be one of the very best.
Son - not only a key player for us now but commercially he must be a goldmine for our Asian market.
Kane - best striker on the planet for me, just needs to be managed better and given enough rest so that he doesn't keep picking up injuries.

Toby and Eriksen would've also made that list but their contract situations means we don't have too much power.

There are others who'd need to have ridiculous offers made for but nonetheless, I'd say those guys are just a complete no-no when it comes to selling.

I would agree with your four DH, a few years ago there maybe have been more (Toby, Eriksen, Alli, Dembele, maybe Hugo) but time and it’s varied effects has put paid to them.

Kane, Son and Jan are our only irreplaceable players imho. The rest can be replaced pretty easily and without breaking the bank.

Like DH said I would have added Toby and Eriksen to that list but that would be a pointless gesture.

Bit of an odd suggestion, but could we go in for Jay Rodriguez as back-up for Kane?
He apparently has a £5m release clause that kicked in when West Brom failed to get promoted.
Nearly 30, but he's homegrown, scored 22 in 45 this season and has worked under Pochettino already.

Wouldn't be the most exciting signing, but might allow us to fill a gap that we've had a for years without breaking the bank.
If we're also looking to replace Llorente, then we could look to a younger and possibly more expensive player there.

The fact he’s someone Poch actually likes would make it somewhat of a smart signing as it’d suggest he’d have more faith to put him in the side at times to give Kane a break. Won’t set tongues wagging but sometimes the smartest signings never do.

Not a bad idea and he's home grown

Would be a better signing than Sturridge in my opinion, and might offer something different - and although he knows he's playing 2nd fiddle the move you would hope would be attractive to him.

Be interesting see where Sturridge actually ends up. No doubting he’s a great striker when fit but he’s barely kicked a ball in about two years now. Screams West Ham to me.

I'm sorry guys but i'd actually like to see us get a striker to either complement or compete with Kane. This whole thing about a striker to sit on the bench is a load of cobblers and sends out the wrong message. We need to get a young hungry striker and there needs to be more rotation to keep them match-fit. Someone will need to tell Kane that winning the league is more important than the golden boot.

Also, has anyone seen this Bruno Fernandes guy? His stats are pretty impressive.

He's gone to rangers mate, yesterday

For real? Can they even afford his likely wages? Surely he’d want circa £100k a week?
I posted the twitter announcement on the transfer thread in our board.
Just looked on twitter and can't find anything now so **** knows lol

It's telling that, in his piece on who he thinks will and will not make the Retain/Release list, WindyCOYS is saying we need to hire an Academy Progression Manager

There's certainly something to that considering some of the wasteful loans we've signed off on in the last couple of seasons, notably Edwards to Norwich, Sterling to Sunderland, Georgiou to Levante B, and Glover to Helsingborgs

The Mail are chucking in Utd and Inter regarding Christian Eriksen. I'll eat my hat (panama) if he ends up at either, but having a few other interested parties can only drive up what we eventually get for him...

It'd be nice to add Bayern or Juve to the list, as he might actually think about going there and could drive the price a lot nearer what we want.
