According to an article in The Fail (Yes, I know) Jermaine spent the whole summer, at his own expense in France, with a fitness expert called Tiberius Darau, who worked for three years with Wenger at Arsenal. The article quotes Redknapp directly as confirming all this, and stating his admiration for Defoes' dedication. Which, at least gives it some credence. If, as it seems, this is all true; then you have to admire his professionalism. Let's all hope it pays dividends.
He's a great striker, but lost it over the past 2 seasons. I'd love him to have him at his old form. And I'm glad to see he's realised that he's slowly declining and decided to act on it. Not many players would do that if they were still being paid!
Very admirable, if he's prepared to put in the effort then he should definitely get the chances. It might even send a message to Gio.
He certainly looks a lot sharper this season, despite not being back to his best yet. Hopefully he'll be given enough games to keep his improvement going.
Not to mention the misfiring Bentley that still seems to be stuck in our garage. Somehow, I can't see either one of them putting themselves to do that at the club's expense - never mind their own!
Should have taken Thudd with him. Been poor since coming back from injury and has looked so off the pace that even continental drift is moving quicker than he is. Instead you got Thudd sitting on his not inconsiderable backside during the last international break, doing eff-all but winding fans up with his "hilarious" transfer deadline day twitter posts. Way to go with that commitment Tommy!
Huddlestone's barely played a game since his injury, only featuring in the Hearts away game and even then he was a sub.
I thought Huddlestone was injured and that it was a niggling problem that kept flaring up when he played and was only put on the bench in the first two games as we had no one else.
Yep. We have some very good technically gifted players. But they lack the supreme fitness of the top sides and also the hunger. Well done JD; If you can see it, then maybe others will start looking at themselves a bit harder.
I'd prefer he spent the summer with a coach that'd teach him not to shoot directly at the goalkeeper seven times out of ten, and be offside for half of the remaining chances...
