Problem with paying him £180k is that'd have a knock-on effect and could lead to a similar situation like Arsenal have with Ozil. Whatever we'd pay Toby, Vertonghen would deserve at least £20k-£30k more. While the rest of the defence would also want parity or sizeable increases (except those at RB, they should be ****ing paying us to play for Tottenham).
well you didn't want players being called up by Southgate its just Trippier took extreme measures to achieve that result .
Yeah agree, I'd rather that too. Foyth is still a solid season or two away from being truly ready whilst Sanchez can definitely take over as first choice next season if need be but I'd rather have the choice of Vertonghen/ Toby/ Sanchez plus Foyth for one more year. We'll probably lose Vertonghen the following summer as well, think he'll return to Ajax to finish his career.
This whole situation is his fault really, I noticed him mocking us in a thread saying how boring we are just banging on about the same stuff and that's why I picked FootballForums to invade.
