But Ramsey is clearly worth s new contract...you have massively missed him since his injury and now have to replace him...is money THAT tight at Arsenal?
Depends on what his agent was asking for. Clearly it was over and above what arsenal were prepared to pay. I ain’t saying it’s right as we’re going to miss him badly. And like you say we have to replace him and pay the wages of a new player.
I read that Arsenal had agreed a deal with him and then they changed their minds. All clubs make decisions that do not work out but Arsensl seem to be just piling them up. 1. Refused £60m for Sanchez in July 17 cos he was "worth more" even though he was in the last 12 months of his contract.u 2. Swapped him for Mikhatterean (excuse spelling) in Jan 18. 3. Give Ozil a contract of over £300,000 per week. 4. Spend over £60m on Aubameyang to replace Sanchez and agree a CL bonus with him of £2m per year on top of his wages which has to be paid even if you don't qualify for the CL. 5. Agree a deal with Ramsey then change your mind cos it's too expensive. To pay him £300,000 per week is £15m per year .... so for a 4 year contrat it would cost £60m. You will have to spend that amount to get a proper ready made replacement and then you have to find their wages on top. When it's all totalled up that is a lot of money wasted...especially for a club no longer in CL. All very weird.
Most of the above were decisions made by the previous set up. The Aubameyang one is fine because he's our best player and scored 31 goals last season, so that's money well spent. As for the Ramsey decision, I'm gutted he's going. But if we pay him £300k per week, then other players will want increases and players coming in will want to be up around that mark too, and without a sugar daddy it's just unsustainable.
I do wonder how much longer Lacazette and Aubameyang are going to accept EL instead of CL...that could be a massive issue if they start to kick off.
In Leicester news this morning .... Athletic Madrid reported to have bid £71 million for Ben Chilwell Mauricio Pochettino keen on signing James Maddison Harry Maguire wanted by both United and City ... All on 4 year contracts ... doubt we will sell any of them ... but if we do it will be for mad, mad money ...
I think they'll probably give us one more season, if we don't make top 4 next season, then who could blame them for wanting out ?
Discussion on our board about this, but with £40m to spend this summer we ain't buying any world class players. So with that in mind I'd like to see us go for payers like Godin, Rabiot and maybe Robben or Ribery. All out of contract and available on a free. Yes they are in the twilight of their careers, but with Leno, Sokratis, Holding, Bellerin, Torreira, Auba and Lacazette we could put out a first XI that could get us top 4 next season, and then build the summer after from there.
Not sure about that. Isnt he getting something like 400k at juve or something. Waste of money and hes injured for half the season. Plus as you can see with ozil and united at sanchez half the squad want parity
Ramsey is a good player but he's not worth £400k per week, he's not even worth £250k per week. He's probably a solid £150k player but no more. And I've said it too, if you pay a player £300k then his team mates want parity, as has happened with Ozil. It's brutal to lose Ramsey, but I agree with the stance the club has taken.
You could say the same for you boys not paying for Toby mate. Unless you think levy should pay him out (actually you should toby is far better than Ramsay and 180k is chump change)
Godins off to juve. Frankly ribery and robben wont do anything for you. It will be like when pires went to villa, they will only be good for chucking on last 25 mins when chasing a goal. Rabiot is your best bet but he seems like a cancer. You probably should be targetting that though as xhaka is turd. You are better off starting your youth and getting 1 really really good player because at the moment half your players are okay but none really special that will help the rest raise their game. Iwobi needs to be playing more and willock
Yep said earlier in the thread that I'd like to see us play players like Willock, Saka, Nketiah, Smith-Rowe. I'd also like to see Riess Nelson recalled from loan. Is Godin actually off to Juve though, is that confirmed ? I'd take a risk on Rabiot though, because Xhaka is ****.
We have just spent on a stadium so do not yet have the money to pay such huge salaries whereas arsenal were fans were told that they could because they'd now paid off their stadium debt.
Yea but 180k a year is like what, 8m a year over 4 years is 32m. It will cost you 50m (before wages) just to replace toby mate using your theory
