"For the record the fire drill song started as some of their fans started leaving after our 2nd goal and the chant quicky turned to cheerio when the sensitive nature of the song was recalled"

That doesn't excuse the racist chanting that was "definitely monkey noises, as I was sat in the row behind" (from your forum) does it though?

Anyway, back to the millen in thing. You will be ok with him.

You will walk the league, become premier league team, in the champions league, winning games left right and centre, and have a player worth 50m <ok>

No it certainly doesn`t but I never heard it thankfully.

We could go on petty poit scoring like when a Police dog was kicked to death by your fans or a couple of Leeds fans battered in a pub in Denmark Street. This is an endless road we`re going down with tit for tat point scoring over who has the worst fans. I hope we can agree it gains nothing and can leave it alone <ok>

Yep I'll go along with that, but I may need to remind you of that point at some time in the future!

The only person who starts it is chris-gashead, making up crap he makes up on the spot. fact is every club has their idiots, but 99% of club fans are nice normal people.

For the record, Sapphire is/was a black guy who dressed as a transvestite and used to wander up and down the Gloucester Road all the time, he was an extremely well known character but I haven't seen him for a few years now.

Also, I do not condon any act of violence (especially as I have been involuntarily caught up in a couple of incidents to my cost over the years) however, if it is true that we did chuck bottles of piss at Cardiff fans, this is the ultimate irony as clearly none of you Gasheads ever went to Ninian Park where this was indeed the traditional greeting from the Cardiff faithful, along with a hail of coins, darts and other objects so, they were only getting a taste of their own medicine...

Re Nottingham, I went to that game and it is fair to say that that was one of the nastiest atmospheres that I have ever been in at a football match. The Forest fans were in the upper tier above us and there a constant stream of vitriol (and other things) raining down on us throughout the game, they really were a pretty vicious lot, no wonder Nottingham is the gun crime capital of the UK. I was stood next to the CCS mob during the game and they were fairly restrained, until they got outside that is...

Fair to say that this was probably the nastiest game I have ever been to, including derbies, even the infamous Twerton 3-0 game....

Far far gone are the days when you could change ends at half time at Eastville and have this sort of friendly banter with the away fans face to face. And walk away from the ground still with two arms, two legs and your blood bank still full to the brim.

Millens a dead man walking, remains to be seen how long he'll be walking the green mile for, but you can rest assured that Steve Lansdown won't sack him until his position is untenable.

I only hope that SL can see what's around the corner this time and has a contingency plan in place.

I wrote on a previous thread that I liked having Millen as manager, respecting how he'd turned things round (to an extent) last season in difficult cirumstances. I also wrote more recently that 10 games in was the time to properly assess the situation. I'll stand by that but I have to admit that it's hard to see where the next win is coming from. Unless there's an immediate improvement something will have to give, and that something can only be the Manager.

I do remember those days (not at Eastville!) but in the old enclosure at AG where brave opposition fans did enter and were dealt with mostly in a friendly and cordial manner. I say mostly as there were the odd few bent on trouble and those usually managed to find it...

You can still mix however as me and my mate had a good chat with a couple of Brighton fans on the way to the ground on Saturday and we usually have a chat with the home fans on the way back to the car on away trips.

I will always remember the couple of hours spent in the boozer just outside Anfield when we knocked them out of the cup - there were probably the best part of 100 City fans in the pub and ONE scouser sat in the corner single handedly dishing out good natured banter and more than holding his own. As he left to go to the ground, he shoke everyones's hand on the way out and wished us good luck (never expecting us to win) and in fairness, the Kop applauded the players as they did a lap of honour and maybe, because we got rid of Souness for them...

MOST people who go to football can still chat to each other without wishing to batter each other stupid but then we all know that there are a few places that everyone knows to shut up and keep you head down...
