According to Sky, the UK with 99% of votes in, has:

Remain Parties: 40.4%
Hard Brexit Parties: 34.9%
Labour/ Conservatives: 23.2%.

Interesting result over here in the European elections on the night that the Brexit Party are doing so well over there. Hermann Kelly, Born in Derry and founder of the Irexit party and Nigel's Farage's ex-colleague and buddy was a candidate in the Dublin Constituency and got 2,441 first preference votes out of an electorate of 1m approx. I doubt we will be following our neighbours in exiting the EU based on this particular result.

The Greens topped the poll with 23% of the vote.

Irexit doesn’t make any sense. How do you even pronounce it?

He’d have smashed it if it was called “I-Leave” or “Feck Off”.

Each will interpret these in their own (likely biased) ways.
It seems to me that the key is what percentage of Labour and Tory are remain or leave since the hard remain perentage is greater than the hard leave on percentage votes won.
There is a case for a second referendum imo.

I find it hilarious the way remainers are trying to claim some sort of victory.
Alistair Campbell last night was up to his usual lying tricks. It's also ridiculous to claim that people were voting on anything other than brexit.
It seems to me that nothing has changed.
Turn out in leave areas was bigger. Why? Who knows?
Add up votes for remain parties against leave parties and you find that the result is virtually the same as in the referendum.
Most Tory voters are leavers and we know millions of labour voters voted to leave. The Lib Dems and Greens would have received historical votes on other issues besides brexit too, whereas the Brexit party had one issue for people to vote on.
Therefore, imo, it's impossible to claim overall victory for leave or remain in a 37% turnout European election (first time I've ever bothored to vote in one).
A fair conclussion imo is that a second referendum, whilst being a huge afront to democracy, would change nothing and the country would still be bitterly divided.
Change UK bombed (good) and the Brexit Party romped it against all other individual parties.

The referendum result needs to be implemented.

Presumably because they don’t trust any politician anymore, even greasy Farage. And I don’t blame them.

My conclusion from those who did vote is that they like really simple choices - hard Brexit or stay in.

I think they did make their disgust evident.

Nearly one-third of those bothering to vote in meaningless elections did so for a party that was formed about 23 minutes before the polling stations opened.

The 2016 referendum narrowly, but decisively resulted in a decision to leave the EU. I’d have thought that all the Second Referendumbers and their incessant bleatings would’ve led to a more decisive ‘remain’ vote in these elections. But, no, it didn’t happen.

P.S. I don’t quite see how the 23% of votes going to Labour and the Tories should be dismissed by commentators as neither ‘remain’ nor ‘leave’ endorsements.

Likewise, I suspect many Taffs and Jocks would vote Plaid Cymru and SNP these days even if they were advocating the restoration of concentration camps and the eating of baby badgers.

Yes, Remain/Leave is not clear in the Labour/Tory vote, but I think there are fewer Leavers in Labour than Remainers in Tory, so you could conservatively add just Labour"s 14,1% into the Remain Parties 40,4, which gives over 54% voting Remain.

37% turnout tells you voters are totally sick of our greedy self-serving incompetent parliamentarians who WE are paying to totally f*ck up every facet of government, not just Brexit. Still last night Thornberry and other Labour leaders were still condescendingly seeing the result as a Remain endorsement.

I think it's clear the country is now split beyond repair, a new PM, a general election and/or a 2nd referendum will only make matters worse whatever the result. Whether it's a Remain majority or a Leave majority the losers will not let it drop. And to really put the cherry on the cake that smarmy c*nt Cameron is hinting he wants to make a comeback, I think it's time to emigrate...

Did you notice how long the BBC allowed that condescending cow Thornburry to speak?
It was like a Labour party political broadcast.

To be fair at the beginning she did say something interesting, proposing Labour change it’s policy on Brexit entirely. If you had stayed up later you would have heard Mark Francois aka Peter Griffin droning on and on as well. I think Huw Edwards was a weak chair for the panel, the natural attention seekers - Thornberry, Campbell, Francois - all got to dominate comments.

I don’t think much can be concluded on this turnout, other than what we knew already - Tories and Labour have ****ed everything up and we know it. Certainly no case for a second referendum, the numbers look about the same as the first one. Neither Tory or Labour would relish another election, so under the new rules it won’t happen, more chaos in the Commons. Nothing has changed and I don’t see what a new PM is going to do, other than lose his/her job quickly after forcing through a hard Brexit on 31 October against the will of Parliament.

Interesting that across Europe the eurosceptic parties made only limited gains, except in Italy. In a way that’s a shame, as they won’t have a strong voice in the appointment of commissioners, where we could have got some reformers in.

Lib Dems who have been dead as a party for years achieved their highest EVER European election result. The Greens achieved their best result for 30 years. It's pretty clear these results were down to their stances on Brexit. SNP achieved their best result as well and they are clearly for Remain as well. These were European elections so I'd query what other reasons beyond the party's Brexit stance people would have based their decisions on. Contrary to your belief and despite the success of the Brexit party these results suggest the possibility of a swing towards Remain in the public opinion which if we want to be truly democratic suggests a 2nd referendum should be held. Although I do think the country is still divided fairly evenly if the split has shifted in the other direction Remain should be an option again. An accepted deal looks very, very unlikely now if it was ever possible. If the only Brexit possible is No Deal then the people should absolutely be asked again, that stark choice might see a re-think.
