    www.govuk/yourvotematters says:

"You should receive your postal ballot about one week before the election. To check when they are being sent out in your area contact the electoral services team at your local authority. If it doesn't arrive, you can get a replacement ballot paper in person from your local authority before 5pm on election day."

ffs I'm in Serbia! If I was going to vote in person I wouldn't need a postal ballot!

Could the EU take action against us here? After all we are ****ing up the democratic rights of their citizens, under rules we still follow until we leave.

Tells you a lot about competency in government here.
Incidentally, I have been of the opinion that the UK succeeds DESPITE our UK politicians.

Greens are going to get record levels in this vote. No doubt about it.

I don't blame anyone in particular. The Chinese steel problem is actually tied in to the whole "but the carmakers" and "but the aerospace industry" that we hear lots about. Our government vetoed raised tariffs on Chinese steel and being presumptious I would suggest that was due to pressure from the industries that use a lot of steel.

At the time I would suggest it was a case of 15,000 jobs vs 10x that in terms of the users of steel and most carmakers were asked how much British Steel they used with only a couple prepared to give a reply to it. If I remember correctly it was Nissan (might be Honda or another) that stated it used a minority % (can;t remember but it might have been 45%) British steel purely because they couldn't get a particular grade to the quality they wanted from elsewhere. If I remember correctly they didn't answer whether they used Chinese steel though.

With that in mind who is to say that China is now able to supply that 45% (if right) to the specs required?

If I remember rightly Jaguar were one that flat out refused to give any detail on the question.

SO with all the above it is a toss up. Do you protect 15,000 jobs and upset the carmakers / aerospace jobs which are more than 10x that? or do you try and appease those carmakers and aerospace? We have already seen that carmakers and aerospace are an oft used scenario in the Brexit debate so I think we know which side the government favours (even if it would prefer those carmakers to used British Steel.)

So who do we blame? I think I know who you blame and it isn't the users of steel in this country.

Did she get to vote? No because she chooses not to despite my encouragement to do so. Her polling card is sat next to mine on the kitchen windowsill but she says "I'm not British, I shouldn't get to decide what happens in Britain." May surprise you to find that are actually quite a lot of the EU migrants that I know that say the same thing. (Of course anecdotal and a tiny proportion of those in the UK so should be ignored.)

Ironically the only time she did vote was in the 2005 GE which she shouldn't have been allowed to vote in. Don't know who she voted for in that one though.

I doubt it. households in the UK receive Electoral Register forms freepost at least once a year now. I have had 3 in the last year. They also send door knockers up and down streets. I have had 2 door knockers since I moved here in October (8 months.) So I have in effect registered 5 times in the past year!!!

Are we suggesting that EU residents living in the UK have not been sent forms and not had the knocks on the door?

As i understand it its that theyve not been sent forms and turned away from voting booths which they are eligible to vote at. I've never had anyone knock at my door?

Nothing to do with registering to vote. EU citizens also have to fill in and return the UC1/EC6 form. This is a declaration that they won’t be voting in their own country. The problem is it had to be returned by May 7th, which is obviously difficult if the form doesn’t get sent out on time.
