Great to hear that May is going to fight to save the last few scraps of the British steel industry. Crap. The same industry that her party helped destroy in the first place.

Blatant Brexit lies. The latest is that all EU members after 2020 will have to adopt the Euro. Not true. Both Denmark and the UK have opt-outs in place.
BBC News - Will all EU countries have to adopt the euro after 2020?

That's old news but indicative of the brexit propaganda.
A short search found this long list.
    https://blogs.ec.europa.eu/ECintheUK/euromyths-a-z-index/
The Lisbon treaty list one of the most blatant propaganda lies easily debunked but the words were widely spread and sucked in by the gullible.

I do like this site should have it's own slot on TV.

    Hope so mate, yeah.

And proof that both politicians and businesses will listen, if we the people a) make our voices heard, and b) change our behaviour. The plastic bag tax (that's what it is) is another example. A lot more is needed though.

I stopped watching BBC News and turned to CH4 a while ago, at my son's suggestion. They are a lot more willing to criticise powerful interests; no surprise that Farage won't even talk to them.

The plastic bag tax is one tax that has really worked. It is second nature for me now to have a few 'bags for life' in the car to go shopping. Proof that a small tax of 5p can change the habits of many. I've said it before, but my daughter is amazed when she comes back from the US how we take old bags to go shopping with - complete opposite of when we are there and go shopping, normally have 10 or 11 plastic bags each shop - what a waste.

Another thing I do, is you know those plastic charity bags that i seem to get 4 or 5 every week? I use them as bin liners if I have nothing to go to charity - not as a saving of a few pennies (I am not tight honest) , but saves me buying a single use plastic bin liner, reduces demand and hopefully production. I also saw an investigation that the stuff in those bags goes towards paying the drivers the shops etc, not actually to charity - if you have old clothes etc to give to charity, take it there yourself. Walk there if you want to save on your carbon footprint.

    Every little helps.

EDIT: A quick google and a couple of links about charity bags:

Sorry to say I will not be voting for the first time in my voting life..............and what's more I think it will be a very long time before I vote in any elections I am so disillusioned with all the MPs. Also I won't complain whoever gets in, I really cannot be assed with any of them at the mo.

My 18 year old lad said he’d happily talk to your 17 year old twin daughters about where they’d like him to vote...

Ps. he didn’t, but perhaps he should :emoticon-0105-wink:

Pps he is a lovely young lad and absolutely nothing like his old man.

Those 10 or 11 plastic bags in the US, are they ones they take in themselves? If you do that they can be re-used several times and that has been proven to be the best for the environment over other carrying systems.

In the US, paper bags had always been preferred but they realised that they are worse for the environment sonthat is gradually changing away from them.

Your bags for life, what are they made of, Cotton or Plastic?

Those 10 or 11 are just normal plastic supermarket (normally Kroger lol) bags - my daughter just bins them. I go mad, she bins them. Just such a waste - at least reuse them 2 or 3 times I think.

I did wonder why I noticed the change away from the paper bags of a few years ago

M&S best lol. Think they are cotton and plastic. Genuine question, what is better?

I am not of the school of thought that all plastic is bad - I just think that with a bit of thought we can reuse and when no longer required either recycle or dispose of sensibly. I actually don't know that much about paper v plastic argument - only what I read/hear. And we all know how much crap is spouted about these days.

I think there will be a lot of people doing the same, sadly. What a mess.

This from Greenpeace USA. It's all about education and example. Is there anywhere nearby you can show her the consequences?

The cotton ones are so bad for the environment in every way.

Yep, tell her off for not re-using them. The most environmentally efficient carrier for shopping is proven to be a plastic bag (re-used). Scandanvians have done lots of studies on it.

The biggest problem with plastic is people.

I am actually sending her this picture as we speak. She is currently on holiday in Florida and saying how amazing the beach is. Maybe this picture will show her what the beach will be like by the time her sons are her age if she carries on like that.

I have t admit when I voted in the referendum I had no idea the government or MPs come to that in general would make such a mess.........Personally I would sack the lot and choose some different ones. The ones that are in at the moment should never be allowed to sit for parliament again!!!!!!! Waste of time the lot.
