Alabama’s Republican-controlled state senate has passed a near total ban on abortion, making it a crime to perform the procedure at any stage of pregnancy. It doesn't even make exceptions for a raped woman or incest. Doctors, who are involved in any abortion can face between 10 and 99 years imprisonment.

It's an appalling attitude towards women. Nobody asks for compulsory vasectomies or any prevention from the men.
As one wag put it, 'at the rate Alabama and certain other states are regressing, by the time these doctors come out of jail it'll be 1895 in those places.'
USA - Land of the Free if you're super-rich, white, male, Republican, and the cherry on the top would be if you're the President too. There are 122 other democratic countries in the world. Possibly all of them with more actual freedom for most people than in the USA.

And Alabama's governor (who signed this bill) has overseen six executions and refused an appeal for clemency for a seventh, due to be executed tonight.

    Farage: Man of the people:

    The full farrago:

    https://www.channel4.com/news/nigel-farages-funding-secrets-revealed

I know if you're a supporter of his you won't read it but you really should. You'd learn just how his claims to be sticking it to the elite ring a little hollow. First-class flights to NY? Gift of a £30,000 car? £13,000 monthly rent on a house in Chelsea paid for? It's all in here. He's about as much a man of the people as Prince Charles.

If May had any sense she would outflank Labour and have the Tories advocating Remain. I cannot imagine sensible Tories like Beddy and Imps wanting their Conservative pary to resemble UKIP or the Brexit party.

facebook's favourite fact checking site (snopes) doesn;t think that is Farage. It thinks it is a chap called Richard Verrall:

Mate, England’s gone mad, and the madness started in the Conservative party. The solution will not be found there.

So why does the Conservative party want to pursue a policy devised by his new and previous parties? Surely, the sane solution for any self-respecting Tory is to do the opposite an encourage the party hierarchy to revoke Article 50 asap?

There is one problem. Those being touted as possible successors are not up to the standard you would expect from a PM. Whilst May has been poor in her decisión making, preferring to jump in feet first, the likes of Gove and Johnson would completely divide the party. Restore self respect and vote Dominic Grieve.

I just ask the question, why do the Tories want to resemble UKIP and the Brexit party? It is very odd, surely?

To be honest Ides the whole bloody scenario is completely odd.........If the government really believes we should stay in then lets bloody well stay in and stop the faffing about. Why the hell have a referendum and not abide by it, which ever way it went. Trouble is Non of the MPs Tories or labour seem to know what to do.........It must be driving the EU crazy it certainly is us!!!

    Edit
The last thing the British people want is to see Johnson in power it will be even worse!!

And this one belies the claim that Labour are losing their voters to the Brexit Party.

It might be an idea for the Labour leadership to take note.

The 'government' certainly doesn't believe we should stay in. Hence they have negotiated our leaving the EU with May's transitional deal.

However, 'parliament' is split over the issue.

The ERG have kept us in by torpedoing the deal because it's not extreme enough. MPs from all sides have torpedoed the deal because it's a hard Brexit (Customs Union only was seen as very hard pre referendum). So, irrespective of the government wanting to leave with the deal, thanks for Gina Miller's legal case forcing the government to give parliament a say, they simply can't get it through.

I suspect that, kicking and screaming, we'll end up with a binding referendum. Then the lunatic Brexiters will shout "betrayal" regardless of the result.

I'm not far off my three score years and ten (01/10/2019) but well in the 18-24 y.o. bracket of stayers in the chart above as are many of my peer group of European retirees. BtB&B,FOF.

Wasn't that the Impish 1 in an earlier post claiming Labour were going to lose massively with no mention of the Tory catastrophe?
Edit, the Imp Wednesday 15th page 808. "Majority, maybe. but they will win the popular vote and seats in 2 weeks time taking a chunk from Labour that the media are ignoring at the moment".
I've got a badge somewhere that reads "SORRY I'M TALKING BOLLOCKS, AGAIN" appropriate.
