It's been said so often over the years that the EFL really don't want Leeds to get promotion to the Prem. Heck, you could even say the FA feel the same when you look at some of the refereeing panel decisions made recently. To add some fuel to the theory out there, here are some observations I made during last night's game:
Bamford yellow card - Lawrence fell over very easily after the slightest touch from Bartley in the final Derby league game, penalty given, no retrospective action from FA because "there was contact", regardless how minimal ... Grealish bought a penalty by dragging his foot against WBA to "initiate contact", penalty given, again "minimal contact" so no action for cheating ... Bamford gets properly barged by Keogh, he gets a yellow EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS CONTACT
Bennett penalty - "minimal contact" from Cooper, no trip even, penalty given and Cooper gets a yellow ... seriously? WTF?
Berardi red - yes, stupid indeed, but should not have even made it to the flash point as Berardi was fouled and ref should have blown ... no advantage for Berardi as he had to turn and face his goal ... WTF????
Derby winner - Bogle clearly dives in Leeds penalty area, ref should blow up and yellow card him but allows play on ... Leeds lose the ball, Derby counter and score ... Bogle DOESN'T GET A YELLOW AT ALL FOR DIVING ... WTF??????
yes, I know it sounds like sour grapes, but I have no issue with Derby winning ... I do have an issue with referees consistently getting big calls wrong against Leeds ... e.g. Pawson at Derby on Saturday gave a penalty incorrectly, and had his assistant not overruled his poor call, the pen would have stood ... something just doesn't sit right when you look back over the season and see how many decisions have gone against Leeds that were clearly bad
then there's the unprecedented £200k fine for "spygate" that clearly targeted Leeds ... how can receiving team information illegally from a proper "internal spy" be a £25k fine (Palace v Cardiff), yet watching a team train from PUBLIC footpath be worthy of such a massive "invented" sanction?
anti-Leeds folk will claim we're paranoid, that we wrongly assume the EFL, FA and Sky are all against us, but I honestly starting to feel that there is a covert agenda against Leeds .. I wonder what the "roll of dishonour" would look like if someone went back over our season and looked at all the dubious decisions against us ... here's a few to jog the memory:
Pontus red card at Stoke
Canos headbutting Alioski in the Brentford game at ER and the "panel" deciding it wasn't violent conduct
Watkins dive in same game for their penalty goal again being dismissed by the "panel" as nothing
Hourihane punching Klich in chest deemed by the "panel" as "not violent enough"
Bamford clearly fouled at Brentford yet no penalty given by ref standing 5 yards away
Baldock somehow committing GBH twice at Blades yet not getting sent off
and the list goes on ......
this truly is beyond funny, beyond coincidence ... it genuinely feels as if Leeds are fighting a losing battle against a regime hell-bent on keeping the club out of the Prem ... everybody knows that the EFL's TV viewing figures will plummet when Leeds do eventually go up, and that will equate to millions in lost revenue ... who's going to want to watch Boro v Stoke in all honesty? Leeds are propping up the EFL/Sky deal, as well as the EFL's global PPV money ... let's not kid around, there's more than just a game at stake every time Leeds United take to the field ... the EFL and Sky truly need Leeds United or a similar derivative in the Championship, it's extremely good for business
so, call me paranoid, call me crazy, but can you truly justify the treatment Leeds have received this season?
can you truly write it all off to coincidence?
if you think you can, please reply and show me that it's all just "one of those things", it's just plain bad luck, and it all evens out in the end ... be great to hear from you so that I can stop thinking there's a vendetta of sorts going on, it will be good for my sanity
PS. please comment responsibly, with intelligence and humility ... just spewing a load of filth is not a valid argument ... yes, we know about the Bamford "all fall down" moment, and we nailed him for it ... yes, we saw the Roofe handball goal against Forest, and agreed it was wrong, so no need to try and use these as "holier than thou" points
