It wasn’t a particularly well designed programme. They got a fairly basic amount but were still able to apply for other benefits to top that up. It was not a full living amount.

Off the top of my head i know the benefits is meant to be

less beauracracy and admin costs
Valuing of jobs that currently serve society but unpaid like mothers, social care etc
Allows people to retrain and have periods off work
Generally make the population happy

Ways to pay for this is through more taxation
Offsetting costs for means testing
There is no personal allowance so the government get higher tax receipts

So does this really work and from what i was looking at figures wise it does not although i have been told otherwise.

I don't subscribe to communism.

Define 'capitalist success' and then we can look at comparables with socialism.

I'm sure everyone wll appreciate another politics thread <laugh>

Cant remember the article you shared although i remember disagreeing with the headline.

Saying that though i do think the Labour mini ubi (what Scotland is going) is totally unviable if you are still going to need housing benefit, tax credits etc. Its effectively just another benefit created

Chinese v Indian growth is an interesting one. I suspect that China under communism has had more growth than any other country. Not that growth should be the only factor.

There was a little blip a few years ago where millions starved to death ,but China is doing quite well now since they emulated the Wests financial model .

It's looking more and more like a socialism idea. Tax the successful, hard working workers and make them pay for the lazy unsuccessful bastards.

Some people won’t be happy until everybody is in the gutter mate.

The entire concept of natural selection is responsible for billions of years of evolution and then all of a sudden, in a flash, some people think it’s not fair.

If Labour get in with Jezza lots of very wealthy people will leave .
