Maureen agrees with me that Woodward is the biggest #bottler

    Sharpe* and Skylarker like this.
  2. Dunno if you'd call it bottle but my lot collapsed completely after the fa cup semi final. And Arsenal did all that hard work to get into the top four and had a shocking run of results towards the end which definitely cost them.

    Possibly Arsenal.

They were in the hunt for top 4 and then right at the end they started losing games and Chelsea pipped them and then Spurs who had checked out of the league.

Initially felt Pool seeing as they were top at one stage by about 6 points I think so the title was in their hands but ultimately City are just so good you can’t really blame them for letting that lead slip.

Ultimately went for Utd. Started off poorly, Ole came in to save the day and went on a good run but then as soon as top four became a real possibility they **** their pants and done a runner.

96 points and winning the last umpteen league games in a row can hardly be considered bottling it.

City the better team with the better point tally... Simple as that. No bottle.

At half games played City had 44 points we had 51 points. (54 is after we had played more games).

If City performed the same in 2nd half as 1st half of season we would have done enough to win. City just were a better team in second half of season.

2019 isn't about Liverpool losing the title, it's about City winning it. Both teams were amazing in second half of season but City were on another planet. No bottling... City just too bloody good, to suggest Liverpool bottled the season is doing massive disservice to City. Liverpool couldn't have done better this year.

They weren't the only team to take points away from us. Impossible to play at best for 38 games, there are fluctuations in performance. That's not the same as bottling.

That article blames Salah for not scoring... He got the Golden Boot what more can you ask of him? <laugh>

I've read mixed views on this, but I have to say I think it's poor show on Brighton.

I don't even think we need to hope for it. They've seriously underestimated the importance of stability at a club teetering on the edge of relegation. Let's see if there's 3 worse teams than them next season. It's a shame bcos I quite like Brighton, but I think they've mugged themselves off.

  18. Sorry, mate. No way is @PISKIE taking that ****!

According to him, Spurs bottle it for a lot less.

We’ve spent £100m+ on players since getting promoted, giving us the 6th highest net spend in the league in that time.

    Despite that we

    - Won 2 of our last 18 games
    - Went 11 consecutive hours without scoring
    - Lost 5-0 at home to Bournemouth when they were on the beach.
    - Went 6 consecutive games with no more than 1 shot on target per game.
    - Threw Away a 2-0 half time lead against Fulham, losing 4-2. They’d lost their precious 3 and lost the next 9 games too.

During our goalless run we had a 20 year old lad who has already scored for Sweden at full international level sat twiddling his thumbs in the reserves, whilst our 18 year old wonderkid who had scored 17 in 19 (and has since won PL2 POTS) was loaned out whilst injured, meaning he got no game time anywhere. But nope, Hughton knows best. Murray is completely shagged and his complete lack of movement kills us on the break but we’ll persevere. Why would Andone, Gyokeres or Connolly get a chance?

Players with any kind of attacking instinct had it trained out of them, to the point that our wingers resembled extra fullbacks and Bissouma; our most exciting midfielder was used as an anchor with no attacking licence.

From the outside looking in I understand that it probably looks like a ridiculously harsh decision but f*ck me I’m so much more excited for next season than I was for the end of last year. I can take us being ****, or going down. I started watching us in L2 ffs, but the absolute nightmare of watching us get more and more defensive every week was soul destroying.

When we first went up you could understand playing for a point away to the top 6. It’s less acceptable when you’re doing it at home to the teams around you, and Hughton comes out with the same defeatist interview before every single game. It’s no wonder senior players had gone to him to ask him to play more attacking football.

We might go down under Potter, but we’ll do it whilst playing nice football. We would have gone down under Hughton though, there’s not s doubt in my mind... and it would have been with 20 points and 25 goals all season.
