RB options: TAA, Gomez, Fabinho, Milner LB options: Robbo, Milner We need a LB. we can wait for a RB The whole De Ligt thing is intriguing. If we can ship out Lovren for £20m, he’d be a decent buy and our CB situation would look very solid. I think all agree that we need quality cover up front. Brewster and Origi Plus one new quality signing as cover. Then there’s the midfield. I’ve been banging on about creativity in midfield all season. - a few have - but the way we’ve dismantled Barca and have ground out results all season leave me questioning my own views. Ox will be back and Keita will hopefully continue where he left off (although I worry about both in terms of being injury prone) - if we get a full season out of both, will we need another player? Fab is, well, Fab....and will be the first midfielder in the starting line up imo. If we can find a player with the industry required and with the ability to pick out the front 3, it would be a big plus but where do you find such a player?
in general on above. yes. others if they drop the midfield ego can do the job too. and you are right. a midfield like David Silva or Christian eriksen is so so rare. I honestly think klopp believes in the press being the play maker... but we have to be able to break the 10.men back teams too. for me..... taa is the playmaker. the passes he plays to Robertson at times are astonishingly good.. we need a midfielder to go with Keita is Keita makes it. someone who the two.can share pressing duty going forward...
I agree that Klopp relies on the press to win the ball in dangerous positions and it works. We create chances from the front, sides and even back occasionally but we don’t create enough from the middle imo. Creating chances from the middle will give us another dimension as would scoring a few from outside of the box/free kicks (ala Coutinho). These small margins, will make us better. But I have to stress....we can spend a huge amount to improve a little. A little is all we need.
always have to improve. everyone else will. for.me it's a player who plays in half turn and moves the ball faster. windy slows it down. Henderson can run and play crosses and wide but doesn't want the ball on half turn nor with back to goal. Milner wants to play wide. Keita wants to dribble.
All joking aside, he’d be a decent option for us. Can play in front 3 or midfield. Can dribble (as you say) but also deliver a sublime ball into the path of a runner..... I know they say never go back.....but wouldn’t be a bad shout for a cheeky £70m bid. It would be like we loaned him to Barca for a year and got Alison for free. I appreciate that my view won’t be popular with all!!
bar the price a player of his ability and flexibility would suit klopp totally. klopp will never go back.
it was really ****ing missing though.. as in I'm sure they played with 10... I'm sure I only saw him twice and once was being subbed off.
Coutinho is finished. If he'd said "I want to play in Spain for the nice weather and my family" then that would be fine. But saying he went because he wanted Barcelona to carry him to a Champions League shows he has completely the wrong attitude for a Klopp team.
Yeah yeah, I know....he didn’t leave on good terms and that likely closes the door for a potential return altogether. But he (on form) is exactly the type of player we need. He seems to have really only ever delivered his full potential at Liverpool....who else could we buy that can do what he does? Fekir, for example, isn’t in the same class....
That's for our scouts to decide. Coutinho would cost Salah, Mané, and Robertson combined. Not worth it. That's why Barcelona hate him. He isn't crap, he just isn't worth what was paid.
What you say is true. I also think that he doesn't have the personality to take him the extra mile that being part of Barcelona requires.
It’s probably a moot point as we’d likely not go back for him but the market has moved on since we bought the 3 players mentioned (all bargains btw, as are nearly every other Klopp signing). Those identical transfers would be more than double in today’s market. It’s relative. He is definitely not worth £143 million though, totally agree. £80m in today’s market would be good for a player of that ability imo......although his salary expectations would stop it if nothing else tbh....
seriously guys. it's not about ability. the reason coutinho was never making it at Barca is about confidence and attitude. he's an introvert. he has been walked all over by the big ego at Barca since day 1. he was a political statement not a rational purchase
