thanks sweetie :)..noted! Btw, we don't need the Fan IDs for this match, which is cool...and i've asked Southampton fans to recommend us somewhere to meet up, and somewhere to go after the game, so all is in hand for a great weekend/day/few days ;)

There are suggestions on http://www.footballgroundguide.com/southampton/ but a bit of local knowledge is probably a better idea.

I think the easy choice to meet would be Yates, in the high street. pretty easy to find, they have a few TVs for footy before/after the game and has a mixture of home and away fans.

You also have Wahoo, right down the bottom of the high street, which used to be the Walkabout, which has kept all the TVs, has a pool table, table football, and table tennis. Good palce but rather inconvenient location for the stadium

You have 2 Weatherspoons, one right at the top of the high street, and the other right at the bottom (next to Wahoo).

I would probably recommend Yates for ease and location. You have the Slug and Lettuce right next door, and a bit further up you have the Square and opposite that Flares (a 70s bar) if you intend to stay out longer. Behind the Square (round the corner) you have the Soul Cellar, a jazz bar, used to love going to that place!! Going furhter up (2 minute walk) you have Bedford Place with lots of bars as well.

Now worries. Sure most will say Yates isn't the nicest of places, but as it will mainly be footy fans in there, it's not so bad and it's allowed home and away fans whenever I've been there!

Ok cheers - probably should have just posted in there. I guess it is just hard to get a feeling of what sort of place everyone would like, especially before the match, taking into consideration times to get to the stadium etc... ad after if people want to eat, and what sort of place they want to eat in, ie Spoons, cheap and cheerful ;-)

Sorry Dan, I am gutted as this was THE match I was definitely coming to once Southampton got promoted.... almost rearranged the holiday around the fixture but was unfeasible.

I certainly intend to go to Posh. I'm considering Cardiff too that month, and fancied Brighton but it's a pain being mid-week, but Posh is the one I will definitely go to that month!

Oh thats good to hear. Its a shame you cant make this one, but the family holiday comes first. At least you will get to use your shirt. I will keep hold of it until the Posh game for you.

SalisburyKev, it can only be a positive that you have suddenly become "unavailable" for the meet-up.

The chances of being murdered by one of the mentalists on this forum has now been greatly reduced.

Who's to say I am not the mentalist... and that I will in fact be there, but I am just creating an alibi! The T-Shirt would have given me away immediately otherwise!
