Tbf, Barca had some good chances, especially the 4 v 1 situation in the first half. They contrived to lose that game by thinking they only needed to show up.
Liverpool fully deserved that. Let’s hope our lads watched and got inspired to play that way and give it everything tomorrow night.
Barca have had that defeat coming for years and a part of me is glad they suffered it, especially after the refereeing debacle against PSG. Also it will only reinforce their urgent need to strengthen their defence by signing Kieran Trippier for £60m.
He'd probably do better than Soggy Bob, to be fair. The manager didn't learn a thing from the first game.
In fairness, Valerde isn't popular amongst the Barca fans for his turgid brand of football and over reliance on Messi to get them through games. Also, this is the second year in a row where he's bottled the Champions League after a healthy lead. I will be amazed if he is still there at the beginning of next season.
Lets not forget that Barca rested their entire starting 11 on the weekend for preparation for this game and, not only did Liverpool cover more distance than them, they completely outplayed them. Barca could not handle their energy and physicality. Over both legs, the Scousers deserved to win. Fair play to them.
Liverpool were the best team in the first leg as well it was only the genius of Messi that distorted the result.
Really? I never would have guessed that from watching that game. I really don't get how he watched the first leg and then started Roberto over Semedo again. Mind boggling.
