For me..... I'd laugh so heartily if we win 2-1 and city mess up Monday.

Can you imagine the rage.... can you just see all those pundits cheering Wednesday night chewing on their bile like a bulldog chewing a wasp.

I'd rather we win 5-1 mind... or 8-1 For the gd.

From the Laws

DENYING A GOAL OR AN OBVIOUS GOAL-SCORING OPPORTUNITY

Where a player denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by a deliberate handball offence the player is sent off wherever the offence occurs.

Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offending player is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.) the offending player must be sent off

Should have been off but why expect

A. A referee to know the rules
B. NUFC to ever be given a penalty
C. Expect a decent referee to referee one of our games

Here's my half time 'here's what we need' ...

A better back up goalie than Mignolet, he's alright as far as a bench warmer goes and obviously it's tough to find a properly good keeper who'll bench warm, as they just won't and don't need to since they're in demand, but we could find a better all round keeper as the B

A CB to play alongside Van Diggly. Gomez looked really good before he went out but he's young and still mostly potential, we should get a top man in. Lovren, Matip, both don't cut it and are vewy scawy

FBs are both properly good but we've got no back up bar a village idiot and Milner, probably

In midfield we've a similar mix of 'still largely ****e' or not effective enough all season i.e. Lallana, Shaq, Wijnaldum maybe, and potential, i.e. Ox, Keita, could do with one or two here, just straight swaps ... sell / buy

Up front we're good as long as the big three stay fit. When they don't as we're seeing today we've got Mr fart in the elevator, and, well, Origi. Seriously inadequate cover, so it would be good to invest in one super good and cool player here
think migs will want out in summer anyway though that may mean Karius is our back up.
The village idiot is out of contract which is why we must buy a FB or 2.
MF maybe a creative one but depends on others going imo - poss Shaq for quick profit.
Really need better cover upfront but difficult to get without paying shedloads and them wanting to be first choice.

Confess i haven’t thought about it before but if the defender has prevented a goal being scored then he has prevented a goal from being scored I can’t see anything in the Laws which say except if a goal is subsequently scored.

He should at least have been booked. You shouldn’t be able to go from being sent off to nothing just because a goal is scored.
Yeah since my post BBC said it should have been a yellow rather than red - I'm relying on their updates haha!

1. As said have to be a footballer to be sent off. I don’t think Rafa even puts Manq on the teamsheet he just goes out regardless
2. I’ve heard of bandy legs but this must be a first for bandy arms!!
3. Targeted? Really? <laugh>
4. No mention of the blocking for your first goal. Or Virge body checking Perez just before half time.
5. Marriner on our side? <laugh> <laugh> <laugh>

The bias behind that tweet. You couldn't make it up. Oh hang on, clearly you could.

Karius is in 2 year loan and can’t see us recalling him.

Def need something in midfield for those tight games.

Everyone says that about front man but man but it’s not like they won’t ever play. How many times have we had to mix it up this year? How many times did klopp want to mix it up but couldn’t?

Souness said similar earlier about the quality dropping when firm doesn’t play but city don’t blink when de brute drops out cos of their quality back up. Shows it can be done then...

You could do for us yet :)

I'm not really expecting us to. We needed to beat City at the time but when push comes to shove this match doesn't actually mean anything to us.

Even [HASHTAG]#bbcsalford[/HASHTAG] can [HASHTAG]#readtherules[/HASHTAG]

Looks like maybe Trent Alexander-Arnold should have been booked, but not sent off.

This is from the FA's rulebook...

"If the referee plays the advantage for an offence for which a caution / send off would have been issued had play been stopped, this caution / send off must be issued when the ball is next out of play, except for the denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity when the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour."
