The first part I'd agree with, the second not though. As the Ramsey issue has shown, Emery and Co are not willing to entertain player demands for high wages.

...and in sticking to your guns, you have lost your best player.

The problem you now have is that Popeye’s wages have set a precedent that you simply cannot afford.

Well we haven't set a precedent, that's the point. In losing Ramsey, we've said no more to mega wages.

But if you hadn’t paid Popeye such a ridiculous wage (a) Ramsey wouldn’t be demanding as much, and (b) you’d be able to afford what he is worth.

Dress this up whichever way gives you most comfort, but the fact is that it’s an utter shambles.

Ozil's wages are a shambles. But the next best thing to do is nip that in the bud and make sure it doesn't happen again.

Agreed.

But it’s going to cost you massively, in the medium term.

Emery is not going to be able to attract the kind of players he needs to save his neck, because your board has slapped a massive wage ceiling on all signings.

It will cost us in terms of paying Ozil's wages. And it's only right that we pay players what we can afford.

Not being in the Champions League means we can't afford those sorts of wages. So the priority now is to get back into the top 4 (or win the Europa league)
 
Remember lads, Liverpool will not do what United did, they’ll be all over Barca and Barca won’t know what’s hit them. Trust me.
