Spoiler: not today Jon at least needed to have one on one combat with NK, Jon's such an utterly stupid character though, a real dummy and walking disaster. I think the two dragons both survived although one was unclear. Both suffered heavy damage though. Yes, a lot of the army is destroyed and one of the best moments was when Melisandre lit up the Dothraki weapons, the subsequent charge with aerial view, and then how you just saw them gradually going out. Pretty chilling. Might have had more impact if they'd just been turned around straight away and come charging back dead. Mel generally was a high point of the episode, I enjoyed all her stuff, and her. On the NK 'death'. It was a cool scene but one feels it might have been executed more artfully and how Arya used her subterfuge to get to him been made more clear for the audience, as could the whole episode since it was so dark all the time. I'm disappointed if this is really the end of NK, he was sold as the great leveller and end of humanity and I don't think they've used this idea or character anywhere near how they might have done.
Kubrick retrospective on BBC at the moment. Saturday night was 2001 followed of Paths of Glory. Last night, it was Barry Lyndon. Not sure tonight. The man was an outright ****ing genius
Believe me, by every definition of the word, it's a masterpiece. My dad took me to see it at the Abbey in Liverpool for my 11th birthday. Mind you. all of his films are masterpieces
probably cos you fell asleep half way through. Of its time... yet not of its time. It is actually the most "realistic" sky fi going. It focuses in the main on having clean internals and uses space suits and pods so bar the inevitable control buttons thing it could be made today and still be representative of what we would have to do to fly to Jupiter.. in theory. It is rather long however and the ending.. well..
Train to Busan (Korean with subtitles) 8/10 I'm no longer a fan of zombie films as they've been done to death (pun intended), but I came across this little gem the other night, just left it on and it turned out to be one of the best I've seen. Very good film, well made and the cast were excellent.
For anyone watching Game of Thrones tonight... No spoilers but my advice would be to watch in the dark, literally turn off all the lights and sit in a dark room. Not for atmosphere or anything, but because you might want to see whats happening
yes I agree it's terribly dark. its impossible to see. I'm watching second time now. have pulled curtains.
Spoiler: GOT The trouble with the Night King is that he doesn't exist in the books. Arya is obviously Azor Ahai reborn. The big question is AA and TPTWP the same person? What about Lightbrringer, the weapon of Azor Ahai. They've pissed on so much of the book material. Personally Jon should have killed him in 1 on 1 combat. Think there's still another big twist. After all as Rhaegar said to Daenerys in a dream in the books, "he is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire. ****ing great episode though, especially Lyanna Mormont killing the giant
Spoiler: GoT This is why Arya killing the NK doesn't really make much sense, she fits none of the mythology. Like I said earlier it seems more like the GoT peeps have seen how popular Arya is and just gone with it. The 'She's really cool and badass' reason. However Azor Ahai or TPTWP doesn't have any specific mention to Killing the NK or White Walkers. AA (TPTWP) is supposed to defeat the darkness and bring the people through the long night. So in theory Daenerys or Jon could still be AA as they lead the army. Which I hope so as said Arya just doesn't fit.
Spoiler: GOT Agree. Also pissed off they didn't have Ghost fight alongside Jon too. Still think this will end up with Daenerys as the big bad. I've always seen her going full on mad queen and the ultimate battle is between her and Jon for the throne. Also hope we see Cleganbowl too
Spoiler: Ep 3 Thank **** for Arya because no one else had a clue what they were doing. Jon is an idiot. Arya is badass because she bothered to train and prepare.
